It depends...
For an experienced driver it's hard to say which one is better (faster, more control) both cars are rockets. The difference could be only notised by a pro driver on a track. The difference a normal driver would experience would be just personal likes and dislikes which are however very important. Ferari = prestige and exclusive, but absolutelly not comfortable (for me) and bad rear view. Service is another story... Ferari is a great car. When you hear the sound of the engine and drive it to the max it's fantastic. I would love to have one if i could afford a garrage with other 4 normal cars. Corvet = comfort in a rocket. Less exclusive, but just a great car. A top model of a corvet beats ferari for me. It's a car you can drive crazy when you want and cruise comfortable with when you are not in the racing mode. It's a car that has both comforable big seats and huge engine with a sports gear. I just love it. A great choice as a second car. I don't own a ferrari or corvet. I drove the cars of my friends. I drive a 400HP Jaguar. But i am a big fan of sports cars and has tested lots of different models. Corvete will be my second car for sure, when i feel my business is stable enough to afford a second car. A tuned version that can make 1-60Mph in 3.5 seconds cost 100k$ in europe. |

Also two words: Blue Devil
650 hp in 2900 pounds of pure muscle. Ferrari is gonna have a tough time competing :) |

Every day cars to me are SUV's Trucks Compact cars. Vettes are the only true American Sports Car |
a bullet is faster too, but that doesnt make it a better car.

For those that haven't heard of it, this might be an interesting link: http://www.lingenfelter.com/Lingenfe...boCorvette.htm
For an extra $46K they put a twin turbo setup on a new Z06 that brings it up to 800HP. I don't have performance data but I doubt any production car in the world would be able to touch it. Lingenfelter is expensive but it's also 'OEM quality' so it's reliable enough and honed well enough to drive every day like a normal car. |
Anyone that has the wallet for it,will go with the ferrari. It's a no brainer.
That same person will have original art hanging on their wall. Not reproductions. |
Still weird like 99% of the Europeans think a vette is a nice car but not a sportscar. Z06 are here but theyre expensive, most guys go for a porsche or when they have some more cash a ferrari.
Still a Z06 is nice. |
50
:) :) :) |
Toyota Prius...all the way ;)
|
Everybody wants to have a bigger dick, but Ferraris are very expensive and only add a little. But, they waste ALOT of money.
Corvettes are alot of bang for the buck! Acura NSX was very nice, but it was discontinued. They will have a new V10 supercar called the Honda HSC, due out sometime between 2007-2009. That's something I want to see. :thumbsup |
I like cars, but thouse two are to much for me
|
Id go Ferrari
|
Vette = redneck's ferrari
|
Both great cars. If I had to choose I would pick the ferrari.
At the end, what matters, is what do YOU like more. Looks like many gfy'ers buy stuff to impress others. I only buy stuff to satisfy my own needs. And laugh at me, but I am so looking forward to the new Nissan GTR :) |
skoda octavia RS http://www.skoda-auto.com/global/aid...2005_03_rs.htm
:P |
They both suck in the rain, and the only time I care to be in a car is when its raining.
|
while the latest one (Z06) looks like a massive improvement, it cant be compared to a 430 as a whole...
See last weeks top gear to find out why ;) |
Quote:
But like I said its a massive improvement (prolly because it was partialy developed here in Europe) over older Vettes :thumbsup |

most of these comparisons are completely irrelvant as to which car is going to be the top performer anyway, at least if the cars are being driven on the street. the differences are negligible. only an idiot with a death wish would push a car's handling or braking abilities to anywhere near it's limit on a public roadway. the acceleration abilities are so close to one another that road conditions and the driver are going to make a much greater difference than the automobiles in that instance. If someone were to actually be interested in racing competitively on a racetrack, that's a whole different matter, and one that probably doesn't apply to many (or any) here. Which car would be most appropriate for that would have more to do with the class rules, and if modifications were allowed the vette would likely prove the best option simply for budgetary reasons and parts availability. I get the feeling alot of people here select their vehicles as a matter of prestige more than any other factor; I personally wouldn't select a car for prestige although I do appreciate exclusivity. There's something nice about having a car like no other, regardless of whether or not it would win some theoretical race that is unlikely to ever occur. |

*** i drive a 04 vette and i gotta tell ya . . . don't really care if I'm seen in it or not . . . been in the moutains all day cruzing . . was in the desert cruzing this morn . . luv that vette |
Actually the question was...
Can a corvette beat a ferrari on a quatermilie? Yes, ferrari is out if both drivers have the same level. Ferrari F430 0-60 mph: 4.0 sec 0-100 mph: 10.0 sec Corvette Z06: 0-60 mph: 3.6 sec 0-100 mph: 9.2 sec On a track? Yes and no. Which track? Lotus Elise can beat any car on a non-highspeed track due to terrific traction control that is simular to go-carts. To understand which car is better for a specific track you must test it or calculate if you know all the details about both cars. |

I'm pretty "quantitative" by nature. And wherever the math helps my argument, I will go big on the math argument. Seems there's a lotta math in this thread defending the Vette -- :2 cents: But there is just something in the following comparison that defies strictly quantitative analysis: 2hp |
I should say, also, that I have been fortunate enough to test drive both vehicles recently. The difference in the attitude of the salesman in the passenger seat is all the difference that really matters. 2hp |

haha... I wouldn't want to be seen in a Vette though. I'm Italian not Redneck. |
