grandmothers become mothers again?

shit, can you even be a 'mother' without a child?

sure, you WERE a mother at a point in time but no longer can be called a 'mother'.

I parented my child for 21 years before he died. Yes, I still consider myself his parent. When my father dies, I will still consider myself his child.

Of course you're still a parent. If you parents die do you stop being a son or daughter? Of course not.

Once a parent, always a parent. If your child dies you still at one point were a parent and will always be a parent.

They still call ex-presidents Mr. President and do it on down the line. You keep the title of your highest rank. I don't think this is much different.

You also don't list them on your tax return. You don't list your adult children either.

Having a child who's no longer living is not unlike having an adult child; You're no longer responsible for their care, but you're still their parent. And they never call.

Not true at all. My daughter just called and invited me to the Dodgers vs Angels game tonight, and we went to lunch yesterday.

My son and I went to dinner a couple nights ago.

I think you're still a parent if your child dies. And even if you didn't care for your child while alive you're still his/her biological parent... you're just a bad parent rather than a good parent.
