I would love one of these. But seeing as how Canon is using their own format and aren't making a deck, it's going to cost about 5 grand over the cost of the camera to go tapeless. Unless you decide to capture off of the camera and shorten the life of it by 75%.

I shoot with an XL1 and I have to say it is not the best for non tripod shoots. I still can't for the life of me figure out why they have not put an LCD on the new models.

I love shooting handheld with my XL2. I just flip up the viewfinder and I get a better view of what I'm shooting and it also makes it easier to shoot the low angle stuff. Don't really need a LCD if you use that.

I just think it's still too early to go HD yet. I could have gotten the Sony HDV camera for the same price as my XL2 last year, but I read about too many bugs with it. Plus I figured I could make back what the XL2 cost by the time I upgraded to HD.

The one that uses the P2 cards? That seems like a huge pain in the ass only being able to shoot 8 minutes at a time. And those cards ain't cheap. Although if you go tapeless, it's a decent camera. I'm still partial to the Sony.
