Now, why couldnt they leave the fucking "i" off the end? I would have actually wanted a domain with a .mob suffix. Imagine the possibilities: crime.mob, drugs.mob, syndicate.mob, etc.

Seriously, I think that this could actually be a worthwhile TLD, much more so than others we have seen like .biz, .info and so on. There is a huge community of mobile users and its unique. They cant visit normal sites with any efficency, I think the mobi ccTLD may actually be one the better ones for our industry. We all know porn by phone is going to be very popular soon, its already starting to take hold.

So anyway, here is the data. Anyone got a price on what a reg will cost?

.Mobi launches in May 2006 with a two-phased Sunrise Registration Period:

* Limited Industry Sunrise from May 22 through May 29, 2006.
* Trademark Sunrise from June 12 through August 21, 2006.

During the Limited Industry Sunrise the mobile industry will have an opportunity to register their trademark names as .Mobi domain names. The mobile industry will be defined by mTLD (the .MOBI Registry Operator) and will consist of companies that are members of the following mobile industry organizations: CTIA, GSMA, MMMA and MEF. * Trademark identification number
* Date of Trademark application (this date must be before July 11th 2005)
* Date of granting of trademark
* Country of trademark registration

Domain names can be composed of ASCII characters identical to the textual or word elements of the mark only. Full details are available in the Sunrise FAQ.

Sunrise registrations are only accepted for a minimum term of two years up to a maximum of ten.

mTLD will process requests for Sunrise using a first-come, first-served basis.

.Mobi General Registrations
Beginning on August 28, 2006. .Mobi registration is open to everyone. General Registration begins with a short, two-week registration period known as Landrush when desirable .Mobi domain names may be registered at GoDaddy.com?s premium pricing.
