I didn't say anything about padding. My point is these guys are true physical specimens. Because of the speed and agility they possess the game is very exciting. Who is sensitive about the padding issue? Now that is a stupid comment.

YOu have been told at least three times in this thread that a "game plan" for the next play must be thought up of. They huddle and decide on a play between downs.

If the game was NFL then the NFL players would win and if it was Rugby then the Rugby players would win. Still not entirely sure why you have this obsession about 'levelling' and 'full force' but will put it down to sensitivity over the padding=gay worry.

Fact time. Rugby was a growing and popular game in the USA in the late 1800's. Rule changes were suggested originally by Walter Camp in 1876 (who was on the Yale Rugby team) to make the game 'easier' and to reduce the number of injuries. Out of this came American Football along with protective elements to the players because Rugby was 'too hard and brutish a game'

Well maybe we'd like to have our star players have careers longer than 3 years.

I don't get rugby. Seems just like a big game of toss the ball to someone before you get your ass kicked then kick it at some pole for no good reason. WTF kind of sport is that?

Ok lets go for the English FA Cup final (once a year) and has an TV audience of 250 million worldwide or does that not count because its worldwide (ie popular) and not just the UK (which was 11 million)

Bit like a sport where everyone comes waddling out swathed in god knows what, go into a huddle, line up against each other, run at each other while the man with the ball runs around trying desperately to get rid of it before he gets tagged. Repeat for 4 hours.

What sport is that? Not football. if you "get rid" of the football in american football that would be a FUMBLE and that's bad. And there is no "tagging" this isn't flag football

Baseball is enjoyable to watch and is more of a European game than an American one which is why it has enjoyed some export success (Japan, Venezuela etc)

But Latin America was a stretch. Brazil, Argentina et al the game of soccer is a relegion. The suicide rate in Brazil goes through the roof in World Cup year if Brazil do not win.

But let's go straight to things here... there are about 30 countries in Latin AMerica, of whom around 25 have Soccer as thier most popular sport :thumbsup

If Cuba, Venezuela or Dominican Republic have Beisball as their first sport, that does not change things really :winkwink:

All them represent maybe 5% of LAtin America, in terms of population and in terms of territory :thumbsup

wtf, I can't believe this thread is still going on.

I watch American Football, I watch regular football (soccer, I'm sorta excited about the World Cup). I watch Major League Baseball. I'm watching the NBA playoffs. I watch volleyball games. I mean I watched the damn Winter Olympics.

Bottom line: who the hell cares what is better than what else and which players can beat up who? Everyone get over their preferred sport and just watch whatever the hell game you want to watch.

If you wanna understand American football, Come to the Us on any friday night in October and find the local High School! The feeling is unreal! Most these kids have been in full pads by 3rd grade and let me tell you 3rd graders can hit, I mean absolutly level someone! High school games run alot quicker than college or pros! Local school runs no huddle 5 wide out offence! Very fast 2 and a half hour game are the normal and have seen a game over in 1 and half!
