Basically:

Ever take old console games to a pawn shop or video store? Ever trade them in for cash to someone else? Looks like Sony will try to make that illegal to do with PlayStation 3 games, in a move that would change owning the game into owning a license for the game, akin to owning a license for a copy of Windows. Sony is not commenting on these allegations, and they do own a patent that allows them to do just that. Though legality comes into question about how far a company can go to prevent you from selling an old game, there is probably a lot they can do to prevent stores and 2nd-hand retailers from doing that. That could impact a lot the future success of the PS3 in the long run. Could Sony actually pull this off? And would they? Well, if they would, they probably could. Let's hope not.

Oh and BTW its $600 bucks and ur forced to pay that much because an un-proven technology called "Blue Ray". Which supposably is the new future for dvds. Let me add hd-TV dvds. Bullshit. Sonny is really fucking themselves.

I went out and bought a xbox 360 few months ago cuz of this. BTW sony will still have their online network FREE!!! tsk tsk.

PS3 WILL NOT have rubble, Xbox 360 has Rubble. Xbox 360 is out now and is more powerful than needed, will have higher quality looking games than PS3 for another year or two and 100+ more games. Gran Turismo will be out on Xbox 360 with amazing graphics, rubble, and Xbox LIVE.

I thought I was going to get a PS3 but I see no reason to buy one if most of the good games are coming out on Xbox 360 as well as PS3.

And do not discount the rummble feature, a game without rummble feels limp, for things like explosions and crashes, your not pulled into the game like you are with a bit of rummble going on.

I'm really looking forward to playing Xbox 360 Gran turismo on Xbox live, that is going to FREAKING ROCK!

Gran Turismo won't ever be out on Xbox (or any other console for that matter) because Sony owns and produces Gran Turismo.

XBox 360 = good console. Lots of games now, and is quite affordable.
PS3 = best console. Same games as Xbox 360, but with better exclusives. Is more expensive.

Bottomline = you get what you paid for.

Also, MS's Xbox always did fairly well in the US. They had the US gamer's sort of games anyway. Sports, FPS games, GTA-type games, etc.

However, the rest of the world doesn't really play those sort of games. Japan alone will be one of Sony's most profitable markets, and with PS3 still retaining the exclusives that the Japanese love, MS's Xbox 360 will be largely ignored over there again. Same goes for the rest of Asia, and Europe as well.

It'll still be the same when PS3 comes out, except that MS will definitely have a greater market share in the US than before.

I don't see why people say the XBox is so much more affordable. $100 difference in price, big deal. Blu-Ray players alone will come out costing approx $800-1000 USD

Basic PS3 is $499, basic Xbox 360 is $399 from what I know. Premium PS3 will be $599, Premium Xbox 360 is $499. I'd expect Xbox tod rop prices though when PS3 launches, so that's in their favor.

IMO, Playstation is for the generation aged 18-35 who grew up on console games. They can afford the extra $100 or so. XBox is for those who grew up playing games on the PC instead of on consoles. Nintendo, well they still target the kids market mostly I guess (and thus have to be the most affordable console of all).

I still see the market being a 45(PS3)-35(360)-20(Wii) split when PS3 and Wii come out.

Simply put, wait and see. Don't listen to anybody until you see the console being sold retail. THEN check out the specs, compare, then look at the games, compare, then look at the price, compare, then decide.
