More than 95% of e-mail is 'junk'

More than 95% of e-mail is junk, be it spam, error messages or viruses, report mail monitoring firms.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/5219554.stm

Analysis of the contents of millions of e-mails has revealed that less than 4% is legitimate traffic.

wat can we do with spammers?

Email has reached the point where it is all but useless.

I am actually expecting the next "killer ap" to be e-mail style messaging via ICQ or AIM that will require that your senders be pre-authorized before you can receive anything from them, and those senders will have to have accounts on that message system.

Just remember, you will be able to tell your grandchildren about when "you had to filter spam". The end is very, very near.

this is also because there are so many alternatives to email these days. you really think spam is increasing? i only get 1-2 every few days using only spam assassin as my filter. anyways, with IM's, skype, vOIP and message boards, etc there is less and less reason to use it, besides for commerical reasons.
you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..
