Soulseek is the best for mediocre underground music, I find. I haven't used any other file sharing software for music in a LONG while.

I have gone through all the torrent sites, none of them have a good selection of old school punk, it is all mid 90's and above...with the scattered clash and sex pistols crap mixed in

and usenet would be nice, I just don't wanna pay for it again

guess I will load soulseek up again, but last I checked on there it was almost all dance music oriented

I listen to folk/metal bands that 99% of people here have never heard of. All of them are on Soulseek, sometimes it takes a long time to find a specific band, but I haven't been dissapointed so far.

newsgroups are the way to go - and you should be able to get it free from your isp - no reason to pay for it
