I got robbed TWICE today! I'm SOOOOO FUCKING PISSED

Happy Mother's day eh?

I go and visit my mother for Mother's Day. I'm there for maybe 2 hours when I notice that my fucking car got broken into and my BRAND NEW radio stolen. I had just bought it 2 weeks ago. There was glass everywhere and my dashboard is all busted up cause they fucking yanked the radio out.

It was done in broad daylight at maybe 6pm or so in a very suburban area.

I'm so fucking pissed off cause I worked damn hard to get all my debts cleared up and had splurged on getting a new 400$ radio system for my car. I know 400$ isn't much, but I earned every penny of it and the radio was a gift to myself for all of my hard work. To have some punk just bust up my car and take my radio pisses me off, especially when I'm over for a bit visiting someone.



And to top it off, I found out today that one of my clients has been ripping my stuff off.

He owns a very popular local dating website and makes a TON of money with it... I'm talking about 10-15k/month with it. He had approached me a few months ago asking me to create some custom flash animations for him for the splash page of his site. He haggled for a good price and I gave it to him cause a buddy of mine had recommended him to me and I'm generally a nice guy... not super greedy, etc.

Anyhow, I must have spent at least 20 or so hours writing up detailed reports, cutting up sound bites and even demo animations to give him an idea of what the end product would be. I gave him the stuff on a silver platter and the end result would have been GOLD.

He then tells me that his partners wanted to discuss a little something and that he'd get back to me soon, that was 2-3 months ago and I haven't heard a thing from him.

Today I visit his site, and what do I see? My exact animations with the sound bites I had cut for him. Everything was there! I was baffled! The fucking prick had made me work for nothing and just plain out stole my shit.


Today must be fucking "National Steal From NoWhErE Day"...

I can't do much about the stolen CD player, but I tell ya, the guy that stole my work will hear from me... I can only take so much [/RANT]

I have all the proof, but still, to go through the whole process is going to be time consuming and very irritating

Play your cards right and the guy may be buying you a NEW car to go with your NEW radio. this isn't legal advice but make sure to collect all the "data/files" you need before you alert him that you've discovered what he's done. don't give him a headstart to remove it and deny everything. if you haven't talked to a lawyer yet, take some screenshots and record his site with a videocam. literally point your videocam at his website using your work and make sure you have a good copy of all the evidence you need. the longer and more detailed the better with all the necessary audio you need. also try to get other people you know (family, local friends) to view site in the meantime so you have witnesses that can corroborate your story. good luck. when we did this we held us the daily newspaper and visited a few large sites to get a datestamp for our video to prove when the infraction occured. we were told we collected too much data, but also that too much is better than not enough.

Seeing as the site gets about 500k Uniques a day, I doubt I will have any problems finding a witnesse for the animation.

Its a dating site that he offers for free... he makes money off the promotions he runs. local bars pay him alot to advertise their parties. He doesnt charge for memberships
