Guitar player left, fred couldn't find a replacement with any charisma, and a long promised next album never appeared... fred off doing promotion or production or something, proof that the 15 minute clock is still in effect.

I dunno I thought the bass player was pretty damn good in that group. He is one of the few that was good enough to be more important to the band than the guitar player was.

most of the answers in this thread are wrong. they lost "street cred" and even their die-hard fans saw them as just lame commercial sellouts. with their sales in the shitter, they released an album with zero ad campaign and no videos or promotions at all, in a bid to try and regain "street cred" by trying to appear that they didn't care about sales or marketing or money. it failed, the album barely sold and that was the last nail in their coffin.
