    HDV camera (help needed)

    Well, 5 months ago i purchased GR-HD1 cam:


    I have lots of videos in minidv casettes. When i copy them to PC, the size of file are so big... And when i try to compress them, size changes just a little, and graphics become shitty... I know that in this forum are people who uses camera everyday and edit them... So, if anyone can help me, post here
    What codecs the best and so on... 30 min video 2Gb (that sucks) :D

                  what did you expect to get?
                  It's HD, I assume the size is like 1900*1000 px, no wonder it's big.
                  If I get it right it's already hardware compressed to MPEG2,
                  so the only way you can reduce the size noticeably (without losing quality) is reducing the actual picture size.

                              use a video format conversion tool such as procoder, convert to standard definition (726x468) then compress to divx or xvid;
                              or compress directly from HD to divx, but in both ways from mpeg2 you ll have to transform it into an avi first

                              best advice: ask a friend that knows the thing to show you how to do

                                  if you don't know how to use a HD cam then I suggest you sell it and buy a smaller camera and just flip it to auto and start shooting!
