Alright.. it's going to cost like $2k if I buy rooms at the venetian for us 3 that are going to the show for the first time this year.. I guess I'll drop it if it's REALLY worth it, but I'd rather gamble that shit!

Wheres the spot to get rooms at? I mean jesus christ, 1 night @ the venetian is almost what airfare to the damned place is. heh.

Stay Downtown at the Golden Gate.
Should be the best deal in town and $1.95 all you can eat Buffet!!!

Yes it is worth it, I have been going to shows since 1998 and there is nothing worth then meeting some booth girl that is handing out flyers for some company and telling her that you room is across the strip.

A taxi to get across the strip is going to cost you $20USD so think about your time. Plan of spending 3K a person. You can not get a whore to your room for less than $500USD.

Alright.. confusing.

So looks like the consensus is that paying for the Venetian is worth it. Guess I'll call on monday and reserve some rooms. ;)

As for what we plan to do there.. Eh. I dunno. Attend some parties, talk to the few people I'll know there face to face, hopefully network out from there. We're a hosting/"high end" software design shop..

Other than the biz part of things.. Gamble. ;) All 3 of us enjoy the indian casino blackjack here, so Vegas will most definitely be a treat. That is, if I bring my brain along and can fucking add. Jesus christ, last time I gambled I couldn't add to save my life, and hit a hard 18.. eep.

Not sure if $3k per person is reasonable for us at this time, but we can get something close to that I suppose. We're still small.

Ah well, I'm told by many it's well worth the expense to come on down and check shit out. Maybe if we're lucky we'll even pick up some biz.

OKay, im sorry, the Venitian is way too expensive for my budget. I already had to cut down my gambling money to buy a new camera (though, a 4MP was way too good of a deal to turn down at 300 bucks)

Im staying at the imperial palace. 234 bucks for 5 nights, found on travelworm.com (3 hotels down from the Venitian) Harrahs is right next door for 299 for 5 nights on the same site.

Unless you can think of some deal that will only happen at the Venitian that will make you more than what you spend, dont stay. Unless you need the tax write off Thats my take on it, at least.

Phil, do a search through GFY for this shit... I seem to remember people saying that the tourist chicks are at the Sands... I'm not a Vegas hotel expert, but I'm guessing you're paying extra for all that tacky Venetian gold paint and being close to the convention. There's going to be parties all day long + we usually meet for breakfast, lunch and dinner and then strip clubs -- there's no need to do biz in your room unless you are looking to shoot quick content... If you need a rest between Venetian parties -- head out to the pool they got towels out there and drinks After a long day you will be ready to get the fuck out of the Venetian to clear your head.

as for as cabs shit 20.00 there and back is the norm,so you grab one, 5 round trips woopy $100.00 Beats 2000 dont you think.

We have stayed downtown,north strip,mid strip,south strip, a room is a room,(as long as they room service) They have great hotels for a lot less buddy, look around, take that money and have a blast, dont throw it away-------

The Venetian is the place to stay, it is a short walk to the convention centre. Plus noy only is it $20+ for a taxi, you have to line up fo 20 minutes minimum to get one

The Stratosphere usually has very nice rooms at a really good price. I'm not sure what the parking situation will be like, but buses run up and down the strip all day long about 15 or 20 minutes apart as I recall. Taxi service is readily available in Las Vegas 24/7, too. I just checked rates for early January, and I'm getting $269 TOTAL (not per night) for a room 1/5-1/8 (checkout 1/9) and $569 for a suite. It's a pretty nice casino itself, the rooms are better than just OK, and it's always a bargain. However, it certainly can't hold a candle to The Venetian for luxury. For something a bit closer to The Venetian (geographically), but off the strip, you might try the Rio, which also is noted for having probably the best buffet of all the Las Vegas casinos.

I stay at the venetian cause I walk to much just staying there and couldn't imagine staying further away, but for the money wise I'd say stay at treasure Island - a lot cheaper and right next door.
