I'm trying to imagine what business use it could have, the new owner's would be wise to steer away from using it for News. I may know a few high-profile companies that would be interested in buying it with lots of persuasion on my part, so if you don't have much luck selling it here or elsewhere... hit me up, we can discuss it further.

if you want to, email me.

good luck with a great domain.

Thats good advice. Some companies would rather use the lawyers to "buy" your domain from you.

Great domain - well worth the price

Congrats man! Hope you got a lot for it :)

Diamond.com just sold for $7.5 Million for the domain, and an additional $2 Mil for the site components.

So its not that you can't create huge value with a normal domain, since we all know that's been proven by the googles and yahoos of the world, but you can't knock prime keyword domains like this or Today.com and others. Gem one word domains are extremely valuable right now and anyone who says otherwise is not intimately aware of the high end domain marketplace.

:thumbsup

are you kidding me? they're great for business cards, on the side of airplanes, taxis, signs you stick in your front lawn, etc.

How many one word domains do you own?

One of the best things is you get enormous volumes of precisely targetted traffic forever and ever with zero marketing cost.

soulboy 05-12-2006 05:07 PM

Great domain but don't have bucks right now

krl i'm a huge fan of domains and especially one worders but don't you think your point of "precisely targetted" (sic) traffic doesn't exactly hold true in this case We're talking about today.com. What's the precise target ? news ?

IMHO the 2 worders kick ass on precise targetting but just have a lower volume . Gaymen.com vs men.com which one has more "precisely targetted" traffic ? Shoes.com vs womensshoes.com , videos.com vs adultvidoes.com etc

Good sale btw . Congrats !

KRL, could you talk a bit about the perils of not owning the plural version of a one-word noun domain?

I.E. "Visit www.diamond.com today!".. How much traffic do you estimate you'll lose to diamonds.com?

greygoose 05-13-2006 04:05 AM

ebay it!!
