vacationing in the Dominican Republic.. anything i should know?

basically i keep hearing that i shouldnt leave the all inclusive resort.. i would like to check out what life is really like there without getting robbed though.. what you think? I'll be in Punta Cana.

also, these casinos on site.. are they rip offs or legit?

Punta cana is very very beautiful. You will have so much fun! baiscly just keep an eye out for the things you would normally spot or seem suspecious to you at home. If you were to be in Santo Domingo which is the capitol it's a different story you got alot of scum that hangs out there, personally I think that's the part of the country that gives it a bad name.

I'm from Santiago De Los Caballeros it's toward's the northern shore you have more of the light skinned people up that way. As far as checking out the real D.R. I would Recommend to either get to know one of the hotel personel there on a good baisis and have him tour you around after work or if you really want I have a cousin who is my personal driver down there. (he drives for a fee) He was raised in the states and knows english very well and can take you where ever you want. If you would like that info hit me up on ICQ
