What you might want to do is find the big local HMO, where you pay like $5.00 - $10.00 per visit as a co pay payment.
Those Hmo's usually have single, family plans.
Around here the big one is kaiser, but my company pays for that.

Don't go HMO, go PPO -- there's an association of the self employed tho I can't recall the name of it -- get a big PPO tho -- it will cost you a little bit more a month but you will have less out of pocket on disputed charges etc -- actually BCBS was among the best I've seen and at the moment I wish I'd stayed on Cobra with them from CCBill, they beat the crap out of Fortis...Comment

I know a person whose adult son was with Kaiser and he became ill. He was going back and forth to the hospital and was being treated for this and that but was progressively growing worse. He eventually sought a separate opinion and quickly learned that he had a brain tumor. He also learned that Kaiser was aware of the fact that he had a brain tumor as the new Doctor had requested all of his medical records. It was too late in the progression of the tumor for a successful surgery so the son died within a relatively short period of time, but not before he and his mother had initiated a law suit against Kaiser. For what I have with them it's worked fine. I have just a major medical plan with a prescription discount and accident coverage. Started wit them in 1997. Mainly used it for ER visits for my boys... the tend to hit the ER at least once a year...and then one day surgery for my 15 year old. Pretty hard to beat BCBS if you have a family. I started out with a single plan a number of years back and was paying less than $100/mn, now that we are a family of 5 our plan is like $580 but that is with dental, office visits are covered as well as all but $10 on meds. And it still has maternity coverage which if we pop for 1 final rug rat, we'll drop once we get fixed So overall I've been pleased with the coverage that we've gotten from them, and the rates have been pretty low considering that we've had 3 kids in the last 6 years and all the little bo bo's that they can get themselves into.

My dad died at 43. If they had done their job right, they would have given him a bypass instead of tripling his blood pressure medicine which killed him with a few months .

I have had Blue shield for years and have no problems with any bill not being paid etc...Heck , they even covered my tmj splint after my ex doctor's office purposely did not do the paperwork of the referral .If you have a great doctor, you should not have a problem..

I hate paying for it.. but when I decided to get stupid and put my hand through a wall and hit a stud and bustem my hand to shit they paid.. and It was deffinelty worth it.. or when you loose your job somewhere and you get a panaic attack that feels like a heart attack and you need to goto the emergency room in a hurry.. I got dental from my wifes job so that shits being pimped out now.. got some gold crowns going in this month from that..

I have had NASE for over a year. Been fine for me so far, but I haven't really needed any major treatment. I think I will look into this in more detail and maybe see about switching to BCBS. I've never heard anything negative about BCBS.This place is too big.Comment
