At the time I worked for a security company so I had a permit to carry also. Unfortunately, the company that I worked for required us to carry 9mm. I have a P229 in 357 SIG. Just got some Tritium sights stuck in it. I love it. For my house gun, I still use a Mossberg Persuader 12 GA. Last I heard, your gun control laws are whacked and vary from state to state. My friend just bought a machine gun in Nevada, no cooling off period, no back ground check, they didn't even ask for ID and this was at a GUN SHOW.
I have nothing against it, shit i went to the shooting range twice in Vegas, took pictures and everything! Walked in, signed a waiver, bought my rounds, went back to the range with a machine gun and after a 90 second intro you too can be the happy shooter of a machine gun! I had a good time, was a bit freaked by the dad with his 2 kids under 10 shooting in there as well.
I'm VERY happy visiting the US, and I'm VERY happy living in Canada. All you Canada bashers can just go fuck yourselves! HAHAHA

I've used a firearm in self defense twice up in NYC when I was involved in high risk business(legal) and I wasn't shooting into the air.
This is the first time I've pulled it out in 5 years and if that knife had come at me or one of the dudes had grabbed it I had every intent of using the gun. Pulling the piece out was a reaction and I would never hesitate to use it, with just cause. One of the guys with her was a cocky fuckin' cop and he was the one instigating at first. They were all drunk and I was drinking cokes all night because I was sick. My judgement was very clear.
I know what you're saying and I agree with your point that guns should be taken seriously. I also believe that a gun can be used as a deterent when you are dealing with a situation that could get out of control. I never start shit it's always the other way around in public but I will always keep the upper hand when trouble shows it's face.....
