I think something where it sends a text message to your phone would be better.
What good is getting an email saying its down if its your mail server thats down?

But I have yet to have downtime in 3 years, its all who you host with.

it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but you can always just type "uptime" at the command prompt on a unix/linux system.

just wish the webhost would use it or something similar so i don't have to be the one letting them know my boxes are down.

and i'm always the one letting the host know my boxes are down, with various different hosts.

why can't a million dollar host monitor their boxes?
