That would solve the whole problem. It can't be that hard to add into the system.

And I do agree with dial on the cookie problem. There are affialiates that are getting sales even though the sale didn't come from their site. Its like a password trading site that no one really likes anyway puts up a small hot pic of a girl. Then a surfer will click it to see the large version. Now they have their cookie. And then when that surfer goes to a site that is honestly trying to sell Flesh Lights, well they'll get fucked on it.

the cookie madness has GOT TO stop....I personally think that a 30 day cookie is just fine, these year cookies that don't get overwritten are TOTAL overkill

If I try and sell someone a site and they don't buy, but someone a month later is able to make the sale from their pages, I have no troubles handing that sale off to the next person, because I wasn't able to close that sale

when you go to buy a car and end up loving the car, but the salesman sucks and move onto the next dealership, the next salesman is WAY better and tried so much harder to close the sale and did it in a way that you couldn't resist, does that first salesman that sucked get credit for the sale? i think not

I am all for a nice time frame for cookies, but jesus you all, a month is fine, not a freaking lifetime!

unless fleshlight has it set up differently, a new cookie would overwrite the old one. so the last click wins.

from Ramos said here:

PeteKT still gets the credit for the sale from the original click

due to the lifetime cookie..
whoever created the original click gets the sale

Mutt 05-05-2006 12:53 PM

calm down Francis - cookies, lifetime or otherwise, usually don't work that way - it's the most recent affiliate who gets credit - and if Fleshlight isn't set up like that then yeah it's useless. theHun could put a hidden frame and cookie half the Internet with his affiliate ID if that was the case.

Juilan 05-05-2006 01:33 PM

Always thought most recent cookie wins...

davethetruth 05-05-2006 04:32 PM

This thread is wack.

The point is, that if someone goes to fleshlight.com through your link, then calls in an order the affiliate doesn't get credit. People LOVE to call in orders.

The online biz is a learning experience and I think they should learn from this thread, that that's not the best way to have their site if they're going to push the affiliate program so hard.

dial 05-05-2006 04:33 PM

wow, and still NOT ONE response from Ramos about the one year cookie shit

The customer support number is something that we had implemented for customers (mostly word of mouth customers via type in traffic ) who are insecure about placing orders via credit card on the net (yes, they are still out there). The % of calls that lead to a sale is very low.

The chances of a surfer that you bring to the site, actually leading into a phone sale....is like TDF getting accepted by the black race.

chances are slim.

Besides who would call in an order for a sex product :1orglaugh "Hey Man, my mr. limpy isn't keeping wood" :1orglaugh

then why put an order number ? put a support number and tell them all orders must be placed over the internet...

No offense but if your going to say " chances are slim " you should post actual phone orders %.

What is the % of orders you do over the phone out of curiosity..

woj 05-05-2006 04:57 PM

50.........

that is jacked up dude

some don't get it

That is what JoeBucks does . . . we get credit for telephone sales all the time.

Ramos 05-05-2006 05:11 PM

We are here working hard to get the RIGHT changes that need to be made.

The lifetime cookie does NOT get overwritten I have been playing with the codes since lastnight when Ramos called me, Its a lifetime cookie that WILL NOT get overwritten with a new click

RawAlex 05-06-2006 09:05 AM

So if you are promoting fleshlight, I would highly recommend zero framing it into your highest traffic sites so that you can score the most cookies. Don't worry about actually promoting it, just get the cookies set and let other people worry about making the sale.

The rule for cookies should be simple: New click means new cookie. Lifetime cookies reward the oldest affiliates and punish the newer ones.

Alex

Good idea, but... A promo code usually means a discount (for the end user), so what cut are you willing to give for that? 20%? So sales on the phone with your promo code should credit you only 20% instead of 40%?

I'd be willing to go for that.

Alex are you suggesting that you iframe the fleshlight.com page (with your ref code of course :) ) in your page? DONT please. Cookie stuffing in that way will get you banned in 0 seconds.

But yeah I can see your point.

Then maybe you should switch to 1 month cookies over lifetime, lifetims is shitty as everyone here has explaned, or atleast make them so they can get overwritten

Tempest 05-06-2006 04:42 PM

Cookie needs to be set for lifetime but overwritten by the next referer.

Phone numbers need the "promo code" thing and the operators need to ask for it.

But what about that ref code that got replaced with a new one?? Haven't seen any reply to that issue.

Bullshit. I am guessing by your name that you are associated with the program. If so, go back and read http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showpo...7&postcount=55 and follow the link.

There is no reason why anyone has to take a paycut just because you can't get your shit together.

If you are not associated with the program, then ignore the above.

i think you all need to go back and rethink your entire affiliate marketing strategy. I am pulling all my flashlight links tonight until you all do...granted, it ain't a lot of traffic, and the 2 sales I DID have were "cancelled" (funny though, in all my years marketing tangible good I have never had a "cancelled" sale), I still am not going to bother with you all

I do find it ironic that such a terribly run affiliate program/backend can all the sudden be so snobby as to say "we are now invite only".....LOL

is the 1 year cookie gone?

are the backend stats fixed so we can show clicks and also get webmaster referrals?

are the traffic leaks fixed?

say yes to all 3 and I might consider keeping on, but if you give me that "good points, we will work on them" one more time I will puke

don't work on it, do it

Ramos, did you ever get my email about a free fleshlight? I helped DWreck out with something, and he asked me if I wanted a free fleshlight. Then he said to email you and that you'd get me one.
