I took him to the vet yesterday morning. While the vet was examining him he had a seizure that lasted about a minute. After he was stable the vet finished the exam and drew blood and we headed home to await lab results. About a block from home he went into another seizure that lasted the whole time it took the answering service to get the vet back to the office (they closed at noon) and he ended up sending us to another vet nearby that would be able to tend to him into the evening. He was in the seizure for over 90 minutes by the time I left him with the other vet. They called me about 2 1/2 hours later and told me he had died.

He didn't seem to be aware of anything once he went into the seizure so I guess in a way I kinda was with him when he "passed". The last thing he consciously did was pull away from me (I was holding him as I drove home) and he went to the passenger seat and immediately went into the seizure.

Really sorry to hear it :( I'd also suggest trying to use some video surveillance on the yard and get some barking going on to see which neighbor tries some shit.

We had the same thing happen to us.

Someone killed my Rotty. He was a big scary looking baby. This dog loved people, and he was never a threat to anyone.

Anyways, we took him to the vet, and they charged me for the visit, but after he died, I went back in to the vet, and one of the lab guys admitted they were too frightened of the dog, to treat him. But they charged me for the treatment the day i took him in, and said he was fine.

He died the next day, and I was sick to my stomach for 2 weeks about it.

Needless to say, I put my house up for sale, and got the fuck out of that pisshole, and away from the all the bumpkins.

neighbors who don't like barking dogs have been known to do shit like this. fucked up sorry to hear that man.

This is exactly why I keep my Rottweilers in the back fenced yard., with no access to them from the street or behind the house. My neighbors wish I'd leave them in the front yard, for security (you could get from my front yard to theirs and they figure the dogs with discourage that). I refuse to however. Luckily, in Costa Rica, if you're on my property such that you can get access to my dogs, you'll be shot.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog... I'd be devastated if something like that happened to mine.

I definitely plan on installing some cams. The main problem is that nearly every house on the street has a FEMA or insurance trailer and the way they are laid out blocks the view of one side of my property and there is a privacy fence on the other, so it would be very easy for someone sneaking around my house to go unnoticed.

Little chance of that, the door they go in and out of has a secure area fenced around it... but it does have a gate. If it were a car someone would have had to let him out when I wasn't here, then put him back after getting hurt and not tell me about it. The few around here that would have cared enough about him to put him back into his yard would have told me he had been hurt so I could take him to the vet immediately.

I am very sorry to hear this, it always sucks when a pet passes away, and it seems like this wasn't exactly a peaceful death. Find out who did it and bash their heads in.

I am so sorry to hear that. I love dogs and have one myself. Once I would find who did it, I would kill that people. I can imagine how you feel.

You were with him, I'm sure one of the last things he remembered was you. There is no happy ending to this story, but I'd be a lot happier if whatever prick did this was bound up and thrown into the lions' den at the local zoo. They'd sort him out.
