It's a bundle of Internet apps: virus sofware (Norton, though .. yech), messenger, search tools, etc. Overall a decent offering but most people have the majority of it already. |

These rumors have been around almost as long as Google has. Who cares?

But I beat ya by three months in this thread :winkwink: Apparently he isn't talking about googlepack anyhow and re Norton.. it seems to be a love hate relationship most people have with it. I am both ways, I have PC's that have ran it for years with no probs and others that it has fucked up so bad I have to reformat :) |
google sucks, anyone who uses that search engine to search is a fucking clueless moron...
anyone who would use any of their other services needs to be institutionalized. Wake up google has sold out and has nothing left to give Only take from you |

It used to be the fastest and best. But the greed for the ad dollars has their results so fucked. You get more relevant from Yahoo or MSN now. Pretty said really. But I guess they are laughing all the way to the bank. :disgust |
All Your Base Are Belong To Google...

Heard it here first? This rumor has been going around literally since like 2001. way to not be on top of things.

Wow, welcome to the last year's news column. Google has been rumored to be potentially in the OS & PC market, looking for product to ship to a major retailer (like, say, WalMart) as an internet appliance. Literally open the box and away you go.
I suspect it would be a pretty difficult for them to do mostly because when people buy PCs, they have other plans besides just the net. Games, other software, etc. The frustration of not being able to run this or that is one of the things that has kept Apple from being a happy hippy system for the last 15 years (they are finally changing). Google would have to roll a pretty big rock up a pretty big hill in a market they are not part of. Tough going. However, they do have a ton of cash, big positive cash flow, and the ability to encourge third parties to join the game. If it happens, it would have to happen pretty soon to make it to christmas. Maybe a windows dual boot? Alex |

you honestly think Microsoft is going to allow google to take a precentage of there market? 1. whatever they build won't be better than vista. you can't pop out a stable OS in a few months or even a year. Especially if its going to be a GUI and run on pc. 2. 90% of the software market is Windows, unless Google plans on selling this OS no software vendor is going to waste time creating apps. 3. Google has stepped on so many toes, with there i want to be in this market too... They're going to fall hard soon. 4. All those big computer companies like Dell, IBM, HP, etc... they have contracts with Microsoft, google doesn't have enough money to make them (the computer companies) want to fuck over Microsoft and get sued.
Google is nice... all the hype behind them but if you want to look at a sucessful Search Engine business look at Yahoo. They had the same hype as Google but they didn't go the every is free and still in beta route that Google is going. Googles SE is great but, this is a company that thinks they can take on Microsoft (lets be real bs aside), Paypal/Ebay, Adobe, Gov't, PC Companies (creating there own PC), etc... you're crazy. |
