I need YOUR help ...

I've been commissioned to write some more educational articles on Video and Photography production ... how ever my biggest problem is what to write about ...

i enjoy writing technical type articles that will help you in some way .. My biggest strenths lie in Composition, Video Shooting, camera calibrations, Lighting schemes, how to build professional lights, Photography Basics, Video basics ... Basicly just about anything in Video production and Photography .. however Even though I do edit on many different platforms (having my start in Analog editing) It's not a subject I enjoy writing about....

Please use this thread to let me know what interests you the most. I won't answer any questions here .. you'll just have to wait for the articles to come out in Online Ezines or adult Print magazines (I'll be sure to announce where the articles will appear)

thank you for your help

Vid

Ok, here's a noob question :

Personnally, I hate digital cameras that tend to capture everything in focus... it just seems so unreal.

What I do love though, is the effect of having your subject in focus and having the background all blury.

Could you explain to me what setups I would need to produce this type of look for photo and video?

I'm assuming I need somewhat of a telephoto lense... but I'm not sure about the whole matter

I would be curious to know what you do to make a very ordinary model into a bomb whitout the Photoshop and makeup.

I think it's an art that some can do and some don't... and you do

Very interesting Question ... There are a few ways to do this ..Though needing a lens isn't one of them .. nor would you need a high end camera .. you can do this with the cheapest of Digital cameras ..

Thanks Nowhere !

Check out some amateur adult films, you should have plenty to write about.

Framing and camera motion seems to be the biggest problem. People tend to hold their camera still for long periods of time on the same close-up action. After two or three minutes things get very boring.

Hope that helps.

Hey Sweety!
I was just going to suggest a blog!!
Once you're linked to many other photography related blogs, I'm sure you will get tons of inspiration there.

What you're talking about is called "depth of field" - it's mainly affected by the aperture you use.
You get that effect by having the lens wide open (high f-stop number, small aperture size). If you set your camera to use a large aperture (f/32) you'll get a very high depth of field and almost everything will apear sharp and in focus. You'll also need WAY more light, as the aperture will let almost no light trough.

You can adjust those setting on any semi-pro camera (digital SLR) and also on some camcorders (at least I can on my FX1). The range of f-stops you can set depends on the lens you use - the better the lens, the higher the range.

If you want some in-depth knowledge, there is a great article in Wikipedia you can use for a start.

Hope this helps

A another way to explain Depth of field .. is the distance from the front Focal Lens to the back image plain .. with should be greater or equal to the distance to the subject in realtion to it's background ...

In other words .. stand at 4 feet from the subject, whilts the Bcakground is at least double that distance .. Focus on the subject only . this will throw the background out ...

Or .. Use the Portrait setting available on most Digital cameras .. even the cheap ones

Tips on operating the camera would be helpful... like when to use a tripod, or handheld, etc. I find amateur video can have a lot of problems such as jerky movement, zooming in and out way to fast... things like that are going to make the view motion sick, not horny. Also, bad framing / composition. Either extreme close-up or too far out for too long.
