whoever says "spend it all life is short" is fucking stupid or has no money... it's not about life is short, it's about feeling secure in life... what if something happens, then u'll be homeless... good luck spending all u have and be poor all ur life :1orglaugh

:2 cents: If you spend money that doesn't mean you are poor. THat means that you do not deny yourself good things you want to have. Not safing every cent.
|
I spend it all keeping up with the Jones's

sure it doesnt mean you are poor, but having 0$ in the bank can fuck up your life big time if one thing in your business goes wrong... and MOST of the businesses don't make garanteed incomes for the rest of your life |
Try to save some but don't always succeed :)

Well, cause she likes to shop doesnt mean she's poor ... I love to shop too, I haven't been recently but if there was something I really wanted and it was super expensive, If I'm in the right mood I might indulge myself too, and I'm definitely not living paycheck to paycheck, I have over a years living expenses in my bank account right now. If you make enough, you can buy lots of expensive clothes/shoes and still have a lot of savings/investments. I think I'm conflicted with money cause I'm a miser, spending a cent is like a stab in the heart for me, Im cheap. But I also like nice things so I think about them all the time, so I guess I have self control; so I have been saving hugely lately. But if there came a point where I really wanted something, I MIGHT indulge myself but it wouldnt be often. At this point I could probably buy stuff all the time (not hugely expensive things) but do a lot of shopping and not have it affect my bottom line at all, but its just that I have a psychological thing where I'm "miser-like" so I get really anal about money. It's hard to explain. I'm real anal about money but I love nice things, so what happens is I spend days and weeks deciding if i should get it and debating back and forth and then i dont end up getting it. |
I tried saving money before. I wasn't too good at that.
I found I always ended up buying something or having bills to pay. So, I figured if I was going to buy something anyway I'd buy Google stock. Since there were always bills to pay I set that as the first monthly bill that always gets paid automatically by my bank. The stock is purchased every month before I pay any other bills because my own future is more important than any other bills and besides once that money is out of my checking account I WILL end up finding some way to earn enough to pay the electricity and so forth. I set it to be enough each month that with a slightly above average return on my investment I can retire at age 45. Then I can start having real fun, not having to work unless I want to keep things going a little bit in the business. Spending money today is fun and all, but knowing that I'm on an automatic plan to be a millionaire by 45 is awesome. The stocks a buy, Google and a mutual fund called UMBIX, are also volatile enough that it's kind of fun watching them go up and down and see how much money the make me each day. |

im exactly like you, so WE DO SAVE |
I save a lot.
I always have at least six months of living expenses saved up as well as a 20k liquid buffer for emergencies such as hospital stays and such. It gets crap ass interest but it makes me feel safer. Other than that I invest about 80% of profit, spend about 10%. |
