Randy Bachman & Burton Cummings reuniting...

...for a spring tour.

Those of you from my era will no doubt recall Bachman Turner-Overdrive and the Guess Who.

Fondly dubbed 'The 1000-pound wall of denim'.

I saw Randy 2 times last year, once at Live-8 and the other at Harris Park in London, Ontario.

I am going to see him and Burton at the JLC in London soon.

Guess Who, BTO, Randy ,Burton, ROCKS!

No link (yet)...I just read about it in an article from our local newspaper today.

I'll copy out the article and post shortly...

Rock Vets Bachman and Cummings Unite

John McKay - Canadian Press
April 28, 2006

As photographers prepare to snap some shots, Burton Cummings keeps checking his reflection in a window to make sure his dark locks are appropriately tousled.
A slight, satisfied grin appears on his mustachioed face when asked if he's lost weight,.
"Me? About 35 pounds the last couple months, yeah," says the 59-year-old rocker, noting he's had to get in shape for a new arena tour he and his old partner, Randy Bachman, will be heading out on in June.
The two are also plugging a CD, the "Bachman Cummings Songbook", out this week. It contains material they wrote and performed together as The Guess Who, plus Bachman hits from his BTO and solo years - the first time such songs have been compiled on one record.
"It was tough enough when we were 21 or 22, but now that 60 is approaching me, and he is already past that, you have to be in great shape," Cummings adds, the silver-haired Bachman, seated next to him, not missing the veiled shot that he is now 62.
"You really need the stamina, so I've been running and going to the park with my dogs and going to the gym. I'm trying to get that stamina built up for the tour."
The light banter between the two reflects a personal and professional relationship that goes back 40 years, but one that hasn't always been so cordial. The two spent rocky years battling in court over royalties and rights, but gave it all up in 1999 when The Guess Who reunited for an appearance in Winnipeg and they learned the music they made together still had a strong following.
"It caused us to see that our little petty differences which we had carried with us for so long were so hurtful," says Bachman. "Because it spoils your joy for life."
Cummings adds, however, that disputes linger with other former band members and the bitterness is obvious.
"Other than (former guitarist Donnie McDougall), I couldn't care less if I ever saw those other guys again," he says.
"I think its a disgrace what they have done, gone out under the name Guess Who with fake guys."
"We're the guys that wrote the songs. Nobody can sue us for using our own names and the legal crap is all behind us. I don't care."
Both the songbook CD and their First Time Around tour, as well as a recent unplugged music special on CBC-TV (the DVD comes out this fall) reflected a renewed partnership, although Cummings notes the two did a U.S. tour together in 1987.
"But the band wasn't nearly as good as this band," he says. "And at that point the songs hadn't had those two extra decades to become more special, to age like wine."
While a CD of live performances from their successful 2000 Running Back Through Canada tour was released in 2004, the songbook is comprised of tracks taken from the original master tapes.

He can't act, and he's not funny either.

Kinda' stumped why Alan Thicke is even a celebrity to begin with? Oh yeah, he had a latenight talk show for 72 hours a few decades ago, and a lame sitcom.

Aside, as much as I like the Guess Who and BTO stuff - I'd hafta' say Rush was probably the biggest/best act outta Canada, all-in-all.
