I like this guy ;)
and no, this one isnt my fake identityI have installed a free software on my childrens computer that filter away most of the websites containing adult material. This takes no time and is working very fine, and it could work with .xxx. We were some parents discussing this with a technical expert from our local school, and there is one major problem with .xxx:
If you move/force "legit" adult sites into .xxx , it will only create new problems! And that is all the non-US controlled domains and IPs instead of domains, etc, that will take advantage of this and exploit the search engines and create more spam. Many of these sites get around the filter, but today they are listed lower than the websites that are easier to filter, so its a very bad idea to give these websites this advantage and motive to expand. Not only will the "easy-filtering" websites and emails dissappear, but it will also create a huge amount of spam because their marketing methods will change in amount and design.
Honestly, if protecting children is the goal, then .xxx is short thinking and not the answer! The problem is not the legit adult sites, but too many parents do not have the technical knowledge to install a simple thing as a software. Instead of spending time and money on something that will only create new problems for us responsible parents and the schools, the government should spend more time and money on teaching parents and schools how to protect their children. And maybe cooperate with the legit part of the adult business, instead of trying to control which is impossible globally. That is the only way!
We urge you to say NO to .xxx .
Regards
Mikke

Well in that case, money will be made in torrents, and everyone with a porn site will use torrents to make $Originally posted by polish_aristocratfrom another thread, posted by milambur
Worst case scenario:
They start the .xxx tld up. American legislators decide to limit adult content to the xxx tld. Domains on tlds controlled by the US (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .us) besides the .xxx tld needs to remove all adult content. The government decides all those visiting the .xxx tld need to be verified adults. Implementation becomes a nightmare and it requires surfers to verify they are 18 in order for the ISPs to allow them to visit .xxx domains. Search engines ban all adult content in their results. Surfers think it?s too much work to be able to get access to a porn site, they start up torrent and download all the porn they?ll ever need.Comment

All the average idiot webmaster has to do is take a look at how heavily gamed and abused the .EU registration process was.
As far as a landrush for .XXX - multiply it by about 1000 times worse.
If this happens you can expect to pay $xx,xxx for just about anything once they get snapped up - even shitty names that would cost you $xx-xxx for a .COM equivlant.Comment

i agree....Originally posted by FetishWebOn another point, its highly unlikely "private" registrations will be allowed in the .XXX space.I don't use ICQ anymore.Comment

Just to add my two about .KIDS, it's not necessary to bring it up if you send a letter to ICANN about .XXX. We at FSC do it regularly because we like to offer rational alternatives to irrational ideas. Right now only .XXX is on the table.
But even the ICANN staff had to admit that .KIDS makes more sense than .XXX, even if only for young children.
I had a very long chat in Wellington with an ICANN Board member personally responsible for the technical evaluation of all STLDs, who told me that .XXX will not protect minors from seeing adult content, and readily agreed that .KIDS had similar hurdles but made much more sense.
I thought that was interesting. Even people on the ICANN Board know .XXX will not work.
Send a letter of opposition. No matter what happens, you won't regret it.

email your grammatically correct viewpoints on .XXX to:
[email protected]
ICANN will be meeting shortly to followup on their last session about .XXX
Two years ago, the public showing from the adult community was seriously lacking.. 2 years later, this .XXX thing is still going, and if the final hours expression of rejection for .XXX aren't put in, then if .XXX gets approved, you can't blame the people in adult who supported and wanted .XXX, you'll have to blame yourself for not standing up.
