The problem with public comments is people can either take them or leave them. But we must ask ourselves are we even in this dialogue, is anyone listening to Adult on these important matters? I love and trust Tom Hymes dearly, and I only this evening told him so over a beer together, but I have been saying all along that we need a Lobby for the Idealogy, BUT ALSO a PROPER FACE to offer the nation's interest in looking at us -
So you want kids and people who'd rather not look at adult content on your site?
Don't act stupid. You want government mandating ISPs to block .XXX when that's the only domain you can use. Good luck at McDonald's. I've never known ANY child to "accidently" go to places like;
this has been brought up a few times in last few days, also by me but noone really seems to care and it drives me nuts
top players care only about their Ferraris, the rest only about "would you hit it" threads and noone is looking really at the future and taking any action
in America ppl should stand up for their rights and voice their opinions whenever it is possible and why it doesnt happen here is beyond me
even on GFY there are only the same 10 ppl discussing .xxx all the time
no, i dont expect Juicy D Links to suddenly send a long email to ICANN :D but the many ppl here who seem to think in the long term, should do sth, even if its just sending comments to ICANN
get your stupid surfer ass into your ugly, 15 year old stolen Lancia and drive to your local McDonald's, I just puked on the table, someone needs to clean it
How's this for a public comment: "Take your heads out of your asses, make a .kid for kid friendly sites instead... idiots."
instead of spending 30 seconds to say what you said to sound cool on GFY, you could have sent an email to that icann adress from a mainstream email addy saying "i am opposed to the .xxx idea, it will only increase the amount of porn on the web

That's not the issue in my mind. The problem is the huge clusterfuck that will ensue if this IDIOTIC plan is carried forth.

I'll email, no worries.
yep, but i said from a mainstream addy, pretending you're a christian etc ;)
few months ago Famly Research Council opposed .xxx the most and we should thank them that it's not implemented yet ( the final vote on it is being delayed constantly since 1 year )

1. I'm probably better looking then you. (Although I've never seen you so I might be wrong.)
2. I'm not 15.
3. I have an Alfa Romeo 75.
4. Our local McDonalds is about 30 minutes away by car, and I'm glad you puked, I hate McDonalds.
5. Do I know you? I'm not offended by what you said, just interested why you said what you just said. I wasn't being serious about that picture and pussy.com, get it

They will make another alternative extension only for adult sites which is voluntary... or they will force adult sites into .xxx? Its a huge difference ya know.
Could you guys explain to those "not in the know" why .xxx is a bad thing...
Sure, US lawmakers( and I'm sure lawmakers in other countries too eventually ) will make using .XXX manditory for adult websites. Then they will make it madatory for ISPs to block all .XXX sites. Is that simple enough for you?
Only people here for it are idiots that think they are going to snatch up some premium .XXX names. Sorry guys if .XXX becomes a reality those name will be gone before you even have a chance to snag them.

Keep in mind that a large portion of the paying surfers are educated and already paranoid. They are worried about their jobs and the authorities finding porn on their computers.
If this bill passes they will be aware that they have just been put in a pot for the pickings. This aspect will also greatly affect the webmasters. It is a means to put all of the people you want to get rid of in one place. The military uses this methodology in war tactics along with the authorities. This will be devastating to the porn industry. It is hard enough to get a weary surfer to use a credit card to purchase porn related material. Imagine if they had evidence (.xxx) they where being watched. This will cause the gross profit in the adult industry to slowly fizzle itself out. It is very easy to sniff out one area using tracing software. It?s much harder to sniff out 5 10 or 30 (.com .biz ect).

Worst case scenario:
They start the .xxx tld up. American legislators decide to limit adult content to the xxx tld. Domains on tlds controlled by the US (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .us) besides the .xxx tld needs to remove all adult content. The government decides all those visiting the .xxx tld need to be verified adults. Implementation becomes a nightmare and it requires surfers to verify they are 18 in order for the ISPs to allow them to visit .xxx domains. Search engines ban all adult content in their results. Surfers think it?s too much work to be able to get access to a porn site, they start up torrent and download all the porn they?ll ever need.
If the .xxx law is passed, I'm going to hire an army of mercs to slowly torture kill every child that belongs to anybody who has any tie of responsibility to the whole `.xxx' proposal.

These mercs are currently in standby mode somewhere in the Dominican Republic. If you would like to contribute, hit me up on ICQ
unfortunately I agree with that guy and as I said somewhere before, I see no real justification for a .kids domain.
I'd encourage everyone to oppose .xxx but IMO encouraging .kids is not the best solution.
So please send your anti-.xxx emails to ICANN and explain arguments against that extension, preferably without encouraging .kids at the same time.
Especially since it looks not natural when everyone opposing .XXX suggests. KIDS.
The web is working fine now, no need for .xxx, no need for kids either.
Just my opinion.
I note that a few posters have suggested the idea of .kids solving the issue, I just don't see this. That would mean that millions of websites would be forced to buy a .kid domain name including many non- commercial sites such as school sites and research sites. You would be forcing these sites to spend money. The .XXX method only forces sites that are commercial and money making to spend money, therefore this is the fairest method.
Also, can you imagine all those kids accepting that they can only browse .kid domains, its just not workable. XXX is merely a classification such as in the movie business with films and nobody objects to that.
