I love dogs, and have worked full on with Police K-9 dogs no problem, but I have to say of all the breeds, Pitbulls especially, and sometimes Dobies, and Rotts are the 3 breeds I won't go over and pet when I see one. They all share that unpredictable, untrusting look in their eyes.

A Pitbull that was offleash killed a little dog and mauled the lady walking it a couple weeks ago in my neighborhood.

:(

He used to be cool with other dogs too until one ran up on him while my gf was walking him. They got in a fight and ever since I don't trust him around dogs. The cats beat the shit out of him nearly every day though lol

damm cute dog man :thumbsup

I think I'm going to have to break down and get another one this year...kid was crying that he missed siggy & gretch the other day...

I might be ready for another one, been enjoying the lack of dog hair in the casa, but they sure are fun to have around.

Not sure what breed to go with yet, but I know pits are sweet if you raise and train them right, my mother had one that was a big baby...

You shouldn't need to constantly use that collar. It's a training collar, and really it's debatable if it's even necessary for that.

Craig, you've seen my two adult Rottweilers. Together they weigh like 220 pounds and I can walk them both with one hand. Now granted, I did use a pinch collar in training, but worked with a professional.

We don't use the pinch all the time. Just for training purposes right now. :thumbsup

Until a 4 year child in your neighborhood gets killed by a family pet pit bull who was raised by a gentle family, you will never understand just how dangerous pit bulls are, period. Those dogs are very very dangerous by nature.

DonX 04-26-2006 12:02 AM

Pits? :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Pinch collars are better to use than those dumb ass choke collars though.

I hope that just because it happend to your neighbor you don't think that all pitbulls will do the same??
you must understand that any breed of dog has the potential to snap. The thing is that larger breeds such as pit bulls, rotties, akitas, even labs, have the ability to inflict a ton of damage on whatever they attack. The only reason you hear so much press on pit bulls at the moment is because they are one of the most popular breeds in North America right now. I am always cautious of anybody elses dogs that I do not know no matter what breed they are, dogs are territorial and protective and if they percieve you as a threat they may attack.

you should check out this website The American Temperament Test Society
pitbulls scored among the highest of all the dogs
