if your wrist hurts, read this (carpal tunnel)

Well, you guys and girls, sittin all day long in front of your computer, working 12 hours a day; beware of this syndrome: You're working at your desk, trying to ignore the tingling or numbness you've had for months in your hand and wrist. Suddenly, a sharp, piercing pain shoots through the wrist and up your arm. Just a passing cramp? More likely you have carpal tunnel syndrome, a painful progressive condition caused by compression of a key nerve in the wrist. read more

personally, my doctor told me i have it, so it's going to be either surgery, either medics and less hours working....

What about you? do you have that kind of syndrome?

Almost, did something to my neck or back yesterday and it feels like I got punched in both shoulders. Also have a tingling nerve from my shoulder to my finger that feels like it's asleep to the point of hurting. Crazy shit.

I had the symptoms when I was still competing for the weightlifting team back in college. Made me quit faster than the blink of an eye. Haven't felt it for quite some time now. Think I should have it examined?

it's not necessary if you don't feel any pain to have your wrist examined....

Just practice proper ergonomics, take breaks to stretch and you've got nothing to worry about. I think carpel tunnel is just another "buzzword" for lazy people who don't take care of themselves -- like many fat people blaming McDonald's for making them fat.

Look: If you're lazy and don't take the necessary steps to remain healthy, carpel tunnel / being fat / whatever your current ailment now is going to be the least of your worries when you get older.

Amazing how all these new syndromes appear. A few years ago none of this
was around.....and people were writing which is far more physical than moving
a fucking mouse. 99% of all these complaints is psychological but if you really
think you have it try one of those stylus pens.

it's not just from holding a mouse , but from repetitive tasks , my mum got it when she was a factory worker about 15years ago, went out on workers comp went in for surgery , but now suffers from arthritis

sitting in front of the computer for long periods you also run the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis

every 2 hours you should take a 20min break ,get up stretch , rest your eyes

Any job affects your health. Stop working would help, but only a few can afford it (I am not the lucky one either ).
