According to processors only about 2% of rebills happen because people *forget* to cancel, rest rebill purposefully.. now if your site does that 2% only converting from trial to rebill that would be 100% rebills cause of frogetful people for you otherwise.. From our experience as one of the original 'review' sites, I'll post more later.

When we started developing our site in 2001, it was badly needed. Webmasters were getting away with too much, and it was hurting the industry as a whole because of chargebacks, etc. People were being very greedy.

Trials are what they have to be, with bandwidth nowadays. Limited trials I'm okay with, just tell the fucking customers! They have a right to know what they're buying. It's your business, run it how you want, but you really can't stop me from explaining how you conduct business to my customers.

Most good sites who stop selling trials and start selling monthly only, do just fine, and sales increase.

If you charge $39.95, it better be pretty good.

What concerns me is The Best Porn.

They are now offering "discounts" to many sites, by working deals with webmasters. Many sites at half price, etc. When I launch my next site, do I now have to follow suit? I guess I do. If he does it, I have to.

Regarding most rebills are just there because they 'forget' to cancel. I can see from logs when a user joins, when he logs in, and how long etc.

I do see most users join, access the memberarea right away, and come back 2 days after that. And then like 2-3 times a week,,,

Or impliment a 'nonrecurring' option.

Sounds to me like you havent looked into the amount it costs to start and run a successful program. No program could make it working with $4-6 per sale. No affiliate would push it either... making it tougher on the programs.

Also, you get something unique. Milfhunter, for example, updates 3 times a week with 1 new girl every week. It is a consistent website. You can't get that from a DVD.

Nawh sounds to me like he's talking about 114 cookie cutter sites with bulk non-exclusive content. So in his case he'd prolly be right. But exclusive hardcore orgy/interracial or alike shoot each worth $3,000+ it could get hard for many sites to stay online and pay its bills @$4-6.. then again, don't think he's talking about that.

There is far more individual signup value from a surfers outside the US - especially when you offer payment in their own currency.

Simple example - Publishers often price books in multi-currency and e.g. a $39.95 book can be priced at 39.95 in UK pounds and same in Euros. There is a vast difference between 39.95 UK pounds and $US 39.95 - currently a difference of around $35.78 extra.

There is also a geographical perception of what a sufer expects to pay. $19.95 is nothing to a Euro surfer - it's the cost of a packet of cigarettes and some loose change.
