Condo vs Hillary in 2008?
Longshot, but not absurb.
Rice is the only person in the Bush administration with a positive approval rating. As the White House tries to right the sinking ship in time to save something in the mid terms, the suggestion that Chaney would resign "due to health reasons" and open his place for a saviour, is becoming more and more plausible. Someone to change the image of the Republican party and carry the torch in 2008. The Primaries would be a foregone conclusion. The obvious choice is Condoleezza Rice, the only bright light connected to the White House today. The Democrats would face a crisis. How could they let the Republicans be the first to run a woman. The first to run a black? They can't win that one, they can't even tie, so Hillary is their only option. I really, really would like to see it!

The GOP to nominate someone that is not only a female but black? Yeah right. You forget you have to win a nomination first. Rice won't be able to do that. Republicans will have a hard time findinging someone to run who can win. McCain is probally the best chocie then against he was the best choice in 2000 and the Republicans stupidly voted for Bush. He's to "liberal" for the GOP diehards. Gulliani won't get it because he's Itallian and he's pro choice. Looks like their best chance is Frist and that's not saying much.

Joe Biden could be strong democratic choice. I think Barack Obama has a bright future as well.
Rudy probably won't try because they will dig deep into his background and pull out family mafia connections (as they do with all Italians, i.e. Cuomo) like they did in NYC mayor race a few years back. Plus his recent personal issues. He is sitting pretty now too make a killing doing public speaking and consultant work. But you never know. |
