I personally prefer a normal PDA + bluetooth enabled phone. if im just doing daily shit, i dont have to lug around a hefty phone, but if i'm traveling or whatever i can just simply hook the phone up to the PDA and have web/email access anywhere

I have the blackberry 7130e
I like it a lot. People get way into these phones, and I would read up on them when you get it. There are a lot of tips and shit to help you get better at using ALL the features. |

The 8125 PocketPC
![]() Rick has this Cingular one; and Lars and I have the Sprint version. The Sprint one's a little better (EVDO and a higher build), but this works well and has a lot of functionality... If you want to chat with Rick about it just hit me up if you don't have his ICQ. ![]() |

The PocketPC is a fraction thicker and heavier... but truly a fraction; barely noticable. ![]() |

Treo 650 or wait for the 700p to come out in June. The 700p will have EDVO, more RAM, and with it being PalmOS, you can find a lot of free tools to run on it. I love my treo and can do everything on it that I can do on my laptop network/security administration wise. I have 5 e-mail accounts on it all using Secure IMAP and using chatter as the email client, I get my e-mails right away because they are pushed to my device, just like the Blackberry's do.
My wife uses her Treo all the time since she's a nurse and she's able to be more productive with it. |

For just email the Blackberry is the way to go. The 8700 has a faster connection than the older 7290 it replaced. The Nokia 9300 (look on cingular.com or nokiausa.com) also has blackberry connect. It will allow you to do a couple more things than the RIM-made Blackberry devices, like play music. It has a wider screen than just about anything else, which is nice for web-surfing. It doesn't have a vibrate feature, oddly enough.
With the blackberry options you're going to miss out on a camera. If you want to still have that, I'd go with either Treo 650 or the Windows-based 8125. Every I know that's tried the smaller 2125 hates it. Personally I think the Treo is more convenient to use. The camera is nicer on the 8125. The 8125 is made by HTC, so you might have a harder time finding accessories for it. If you're in a major city most of the time (I'm not) Cingular is rolling out Broadband Connect (UMTS) - which is going to offer a lot faster internet speeds. It's kinda like Verizon's EVDO. None of the devices mentioned can do this. You could wait until someone comes out with a smartphone that can handle UMTS. BTW, if you would want to use your smartphone as a modem for a laptop, Cingular now officially supports the Blackberry for doing that. It's a little extra each month. |

1. It's conveniently designed, small yet functional with the nice sized touchscreen and full Qwerty 2. With Sprint it has high speed already. I use it as a laptop modem and get average speeds of 400kbs to 700kbs average (with 2mb peaks) depending on location 3. The data package for the phone & for use as a modem costs me $15 a month UNLIMITED (cheaper than home connections) 4. Fuck the Ipod video, I've been playing movies on my Treo for 3 years now 4. The apps developed for the Palm OS are top notch. Check out www.palmgear.com to see what I mean. When the new Treo comes out this summer I will upgrade, but until then I'll wait. I don't even need wi-fi at this point most days.
