I saw a Republican politician (I think it was a state senator) on TV last week saying that the US could solve the immigration problem by going after businesses that hire illegals. No work, no more immigration. Obviously rounding up illegals into camps and deporting them would look very, very bad so this seems to the be nice alternative.

Should small business owners be the ones who pay? Its worth adding, this isn't just about taking away cheap label, but actually sending these business owners to jail.

That is a piece in the puzzle to the solution of this problem. The businesses are the "enablers" to the bigger problem. Not the sole source of it, but they are the reason a lot of them are coming over here. To get work. If people stop hiring them, then coming across the border makes little sense. However, you will still have plenty of people who will hire them "under the table" for work and just hope they do not get caught.

It would crack down on more of the medium sized companies, but the small fries would most likely still break the law and hire them. As would individuals who hire them for nanny's, lawn service, and so on.

Short answer.. yes.

Also, I like how you ask the question "Should small business owners be the ones who pay?". You should get a job on a campaign, because thats exactly the bullshit spin people get paid six figures to come up with. People are always talking about small business this, small business that. It conjurs up the image of ma and pa running a small store. Well guess what? All of those fucking stores are gone now. There really isnt any such thing as a small business these days. There are big businesses and mega businesses. The few small business owners that havent been bankrupted by the ignorant consumers that inhabit this country or the tax and spend government that is in power arent paying for illegals because by and large they dont hire them. Its the biggest companies that are hiring these pukes because its cheaper than hiring a non-criminal.

So should we put the business owners in jail? If I kill somebody, should I go to jail? How about if I import a barge full of weed? How about if I pick off a few of my least favorite politicans? Yes, of course they should go to jail. Jail is where criminals, that is, people who break the law, go. If we arent going to put them in jail for breaking this law, why do I have to go to jail if I break a law?

And yes, its a step in the right direction. And its about fucking time. And I still dont see why everyone wont round them up into camps and deport them.

We need to leave everything as it is. If you make it over & don't get caught, go for it!

If create a "guest worker" plan....there will be ZERO unskilled labor jobs for anyone but mexicans left in the united states. Even mid-level skilled jobs will be filled by mexicans, not because their better...but because they'll work for less.

Essentially their trying to legalize DIRT CHEAP domestic labor, & it will hurt everyone. Remember that job you had as a kid growing up at the grocery store, mcdonalds, the body shop etc?? GONE

We'll have 15 million newly legal minimum wage workers, & it will absolutely RAVAGE whats left of our inner cities.

Very true.

The solution needs to stop enablers from hiring them.

They also need to find a way to either get these people into the system where this 15 million people start paying taxes and into the coffers for social security, etc. Or get the fuck out.

They need to crack down on businesses, and labor laws so anyone paying them substandard wages, or hiring illegals go to jail, get enourmous fines, or put out of business. The chilling effect would stop a lot of people from hiring them. No jobs = no money. No reason to come here.

I do not care if the process to become nationalized is too much for these people to deal with. When you come to this country, you either pledge allegance to it, learn how to SPEAK ENGLISH, and conform to the society as a whole... or stay in your own fucking country.

Some of the stories I hear from my old college roommate who works for Homeland Securtiy makes your blood boil. He deals with a lot of illegals all day long, both Mexican, and Arabs. Funny how they break laws, but then cite the Constitution once arrested as if they have rights.

Apparently since they barely speak English, they can't seem to understand the concept of ILLEGAL aliens.
