Fifty layers of photochop

I would just hope that when he's hired he can crank out his work a little faster :D

BoyAlley 04-19-2006 10:57 AM

Sure, he's very talented. But am I the only one that looks at this as a HUGE waste of time? Why on earth spend 11 months to create 1 photorealistic image like this in Photoshop?

I'm an avid fine art collector, and this doesn't even make sense to me?

mechanicvirus 04-19-2006 10:59 AM

holy shit, I would go insane trying to create something like that.

Nightwind 04-19-2006 11:08 AM

Meh, game graphics look almost the same these days.

Game graphics are done with 3d modeling, texturing, lighting.... rendering.

This was done in photoshop. There's no light sources set, there's no reflective surfaces to work with.

kanalj 04-19-2006 11:16 AM

guy's like this should be lined up and shot, they are simply to fucking good.

I bet he didnt do it on all his free time, probably just a side project he did for the fun of it.

L-Pink 04-19-2006 11:27 AM

OK, The guy spends a YEAR making a great image from an average photograph ..... and?

MattO 04-19-2006 11:39 AM

Funny, the arts forums I frenquent have been laughing at this picture. The guy did it pretty much to brag about all the layers he used, but there are all kinds of problems with perspective, shadows being wrong, layers overlapping badly. In short, it's a joke, a sideshow act to make people go "ooo ahhh" who don't know any better.

tgp'er 04-19-2006 11:47 AM

I was at barns and noble the other day... they have photoshop magazines there for photoshop geeks.

ready lube 04-19-2006 11:51 AM

yeah pretty cool but man what a lot of time it took to do it. He really loves photoshop I guess.

elitetec 04-19-2006 01:28 PM

Kevsh 04-19-2006 02:31 PM

"The flattened file weighs in at 1.7 Gigabytes"

Unflattened???
I don't want to know...

Anyhow, I hope it lands this guy a good gig - not to hate on it, but I can think of 100 ways I'd rather spend 2000 hours!

Wiggles 04-19-2006 02:36 PM

i'm sure he'll have a huge contract now!

Sly 04-19-2006 02:50 PM

I know people that have been playing guitar for 10 years. They still suck and haven't made a penny from it. Who cares?

Vitasoy 04-19-2006 03:05 PM

Yea, you can say hes gifted.

gecko 04-19-2006 03:21 PM

Voodoo 04-19-2006 03:26 PM

When you find a pic of a turd in the shape of a piece of shit, do you come here and post that all others who shit are n00bs as well?

What gives YOU license to call Photoshoppers on GFY "N00bs"???!! I can almost guarantee that you couldn't bevel a circle to save your life.

I don't know if you are the photographer for the site in your sig, but if you are...

David Lace is a fucking bad ass photographer, you must be a total idiot n00b if you can't take pics like him.

Peace out dunce.

Sounds like a shitload of time for something people look at for 2 seconds, say, "that's cool", and doesn't even have a join button.

HUGE idiot if you ask me.
