The manuals they gave me stacked up are about 3" tall..of fine print!
It's fun though discovering more tricks that this thing does.I played with the sport suspension mode today and that really works great. It makes a 4,000 lb car almost feel nimble through the corners.

do you have strict break-in rules??

in the M5, i wasnt supposed to use S5 or S6 mode or launch control until 1200 miles. Still want me to wait till 3,100 miles (breakin complete) to use S6 mode. Im at 2,750 miles now & I havent tried launch control yet, lol. That should be interesting.

Just figured out hte damn bluetooth device pairing finally. Had to buy a moto razr just so it would work.

Anyhow, congrats on the car, it was my 2nd choice. I was looking at that CLS55 also. :thumbsup

Unfortunately yes. max 4500rpm for the first 1000 miles.Or 85 mph..

I only semi-tried a launch once with my M3..and I weenied out during it.It seemed terribly abusive on the car. That was really my main gripe with smg.Under full throttle it slammed so hard I was amazed that the whole drivetrain didn't end up laying on the road.I used sportmode all the time on it,with a light gaspedal foot during shifting.Once you have that figured out,it shifts smooth and fast without all the drama.
I looked at the M5 real hard but at the end of the day I was ready for a change.I've been driving BMW's since 1995.This E55 is my second MB..if you want to count the ML350 as a Benz. :) After one day with it,I like it.Gobs of power, sounds amazing..and extremely comfortable. There are a few to many gizmos for my taste and odds are I'll never use half of them.It was the same with the BMW's.I rarely messed with all the gadgets in them.

Hi Minte,
nice grab. I love those fast sedans. I am looking at replacing my Range with another truck but cant find anything I like. How you liking the Lambo? I just sold mine and am waiting on the Gallardo Spyder. I cannot wait for that baby to come in.

Louis

detoxed 04-15-2006 07:27 PM

not bad... if i bought those kind of cars the neighbors (and everyone in town) would hate me.

majorbitch 04-15-2006 07:28 PM

Ahhh.. I'm jealous! :o

JohanTheGreat 04-15-2006 07:31 PM

How much is a gallardo?

Adam_M 04-15-2006 07:40 PM

E55 Amg ooooo yes.
That is my pick of any car on the road.
Is has everything and goes like a race car.

Congrats on the new car.
P.S the McLaren engine management system is one hell of an upgrade.

sexypond 04-15-2006 07:42 PM

The Spyder is going to be worth the wait from everything I have read and heard. What color did you go with?

As far as the Gallardo,it's about the perfect car for my tastes.I love everything about it.It's one of the few cars I've owned that makes me smile everytime I drive it.The only downside, and I am sure you experienced it is the *rockstar* factor.I can appreciate other drivers enthusiasm for seeing a Lambo in the wild, but after a bit it gets annoying. My best moments with it are early morning drives in the country.

I went with the Orange and black leather on with black alcantara inserts with orange stitching for the interior. I wanted to go with black Leather with gray alcantara inserts for more of a contrast and the orange stitching, but gray was no longer an option which I thought was kinda dumb since you can get so many color options on these cars. I got the new Calypso rims which I am starting to like more and more everytime I see it. As for the rock star status, yes but I dont mind it. Its kinda nice :thumbsup Now since you are proving to be a HUGE car buff here is a car that is coming out soon that Im thinking I have to get. Let me know your thoughts on this baby.

I can't wait to see some pics of your Spyder when it gets here. That combo is going to be stunning. The jury is still out for me on the new rims.I'll have to see a few of the spyders in person first. However,I do think they work better on the spyder than they do on most of the Se's i've seen.

That Bentley looks like the car that will really put them in the game.I've always thought they were too huge and bloated. This new cabriolet looks to be near perfect size.It will be interesting to see what the guys over at L-P think of it.There are quite a few of those fellows that have Bentleys now.

Jade^ 04-15-2006 08:24 PM

Sweet :)

KarupLou 04-15-2006 08:25 PM

Hi Minte,
Yeah I will send you pics as soon as I get it. They are killing me here. Lamborghini has a problem of flooding the market with their cars except when you seem to be waiting for one. 1 month after I get it Im sure there will be 5 on the floor of every fucking dealership. But now its always 1 month out before I expect to see it. I hope I get lucky here and get it in early May. As of now Im thinking late May. I was gonna go with Orange on my original one but I was worried about resale and very worried about what I could do to the interior. My options are so much more limited with an orange car. With the yellow, I went with the black leather with yellow alcantara and it was SIIIICK. I cant do that with orange because it will look like a BIG PUMPKIN :error

Minte 04-16-2006 06:06 AM

Orange is destined to be the marque color for the spyder.Like yellow is for the coupe.

Have you gotten a delivery date? A local friend has one on order from Foxvalley and he was told they are running a few weeks behind right now.

Ramphix 04-16-2006 05:02 PM

End of May most likely is all he can tell me at this point. I just hope it arrives earlier. I am fine with it as long as everyone else doesnt get theirs and I cant get mine. If they are simply not being delivered then I guess there is nothing I can do. But if everyone gets theres and Im still waiting then I will start to get pissed.

Nice ride ... BUT bad timing.

:warning Nice ride ... BUT bad timing.

The facelift for the E-class was launched a couple of days ago and the 55 AMG is now dead.
The facelift car now features a 63 AMG which is faster and better.
I hope you got a good deal for it.

Actually it was perfect timing. The styling of the E63 is only slightly different. The main difference is The E63 is n/a and it gave up over 50lbs of torque. It doesn't develop its power now until around 4500rpm's.The response from diehard MB drivers has been at best lukewarm. What makes the E55amg special is the lowend torque.

From a financial standpoint,I don't buy cars for an investment.I buy them to drive and enjoy. So trade-in value is totally a nonissue to me.

No,I passed on it.When I went for the testdrive the car was suffering from some transmission woes and I took that as an omen.
