There are several breads that have similar features to a pit bull and people often don't know the difference. If you take some jack ass kid that owns a pit because he saw it on a rap video and swap out the pit for another dog, do you think he's going to raise it any differently? If you saw a Rhodesian Ridgeback you'd probably think it was a sweet looking dog. Rhodesian ridgebacks were bread to hunt lions way back when and can very easily be a vicious dog in the wrong hands.

Absolutely :thumbsup
Any dog can become vicious in wrong hands. We have a pit and a rottweiler and they are both really good girls. The rottie loves playing with kids and is like a mother to our younger pit Jessica.

Yes, I do believe ALL PITS are bad. it's breed into the very nature of the dog. There is a reason they are against the law where I live. One of my dogs has had surgery and mutlple stitched across his face from protecting a little girl from one. (a "my pit is sooooo cute and would never hurt a sole" lunged at a 6 year old girl at the dog park, my wife stepped between them and our coon hound took out the pit to protect them both and suffered multiple surgerys due to it)

Around here, they are killed without question by the shelters. Almost no rescuse will touch one with a 10 foot pole.

thats really unfortunate.. i had a rednose/american pit for the last 13 years. never once gave me any problems. very loyal and protective. the only thing was she didn't like other dogs. i doubt you know that there are quite a few other dogs that have a more heated temperment then a pit. thats not quite the problem here its there lock jaw thats the problem. too many people get that confused with the dog being vicious. if you train the dog well, then you'll have a good dog. :2 cents:

awwww!!! i'm a sucker for pit bulls and bully breeds in general! i got a pug because i live in a condo and can't have such a big energetic dog here! pits are such loving, loyal dogs and they are tough so you can play big with them - go you!!! :thumbsup

she's adooooorable of course, and i like the name bailey for her, or perhaps...kahlua-creme. she's reminding me of drinks apparently. =D
