my aunt has 4 brain tumors and lung cancer due to 45 years of smoking. she didn't even realize anything was wrong until the tumors were getting so big they started pressing on parts of her brain. she is only 61 years old. doctors say she'll be lucky if she lasts another 12 months. to get something like this from anything other than smoking, you would have to be working in some pretty hazardous conditions or expose yourself to harmful chemicals on a regular basis.

i used to smoke but quit when i was 21, 7 years ago. my girlfriend smokes but is working on quitting. no way i want to go through what my uncle is going through now. to think everything is fine one day then the next finding out the person you spent the last 40 years with won't be around for 41 :(

Smoking stinks. If you want to do it with other smokers or in your own home AWAY from non smokers, then fine. Don't smoke infront of children. They might think its cool seeing an adult smoke and get started themselves. You might fuck up someones life that way. Sure, its their own decission if they want to smoke or not but don't set a bad example. Smokers piss the hell out of me. I get back from a pub and my clothes stink of smoke. FUCK THEM. Should I send them the washing bill? Sure, I'm over reacting a bit but smoking is bad and I hate it when its done with other people around. Also pisses me off when someone comes onto the bus and sits next to you that stinks of smoke. Why should I have to put up with this type of shit....

i don't want to live forever but after seeing loved ones die before their time due to smoking, im not a fan of it. most of my friends smoke, and i love them but i hope they'll quit eventually.

I smoked my last cigarette three years and when I put it out I made myself two promises. The first being to never fire up another and the second being to never carry on like a fishwife when someone else did.

As of today I'm happy to report that I've kept both promises :thumbsup

I view it from the perspective that both my grandparents smoked all their lives...and lived well in to their 90s - with no regret. Neither of them died due to smoking-related causes.

I stopped smoking cigs on new year's day. Smoked up to 30 / daily. From the money I don't waste for cigs anymore i bought my new car.

People can smoke, drink, snort or shoot up for all I care. It's their bodies, they can deal with any consequences that may or may not originate from doing so.

Oh and the Government loves smokers and the tax revenue it generates. :)

ok smoking is bad for you, but that's why we live in a free country, so we can choose to do things that are bad for us, or not. everybody has a "thing"...some people smoke, some over eat, some do drugs, some drink...this thread is just a shit starter. :disgust if no one did anything that was bad for them we'd all be perfect and would have nothing to try to quit or work on..

And you know they died from smoking how? I know 3 people who have died of cancer in their 20's, none of them smoked. What killed them? But if they did smoke of course it would have been blamed on that.

i am a non smoker though...i don't support cigarette companies and i will not date a woman who smokes...i don't like seeing people smoke around kids and i hate it when people who smoke don't see the harm in second hand smoke...or just don't care...other than that i could care less...its your life...you are free to kill yourself however you please...:2 cents:

I hate cigarettes, they taste like shit and just make me feel stupid after smoking one. On the other hand, marijuana has pleasant smells and aftereffects and I never feel stupid after smoking that :)
