Random pic, pet I have [PIC]

I was playin with this guy a few minutes ago and decided to snap a quick pic on my phone. Anyone else ever owned one of these? He's pretty cool, just flies from person to person, or just curls up in your pocket and sleeps.

Clean ups not too bad at all, he leaves little droppings here and there that I have to clean out daily, but its a really small mess. I've gotta keep stocked up on fruits and stuff for em tho, that can be a pain sometimes!

They're sold in stores here in Houston. Along with these mini alligators and mini kangaroos.

I don't like the idea of animals like that wandering around the house. What happens if he leaves little stink nuggets behind the TV cabinet that you don't see? After a while the house is going to smell like the monkey house at the zoo.

Cute animals though.

Awh, cute sugar glider. He/she is okay living by itself?

I have three sugar gliders that I've rescued. I rescued one first, but then she became depressed after about a year (even with me holding her eight hours a day while she slept in her pouch), so I rescued two others. Unfortunately the new pair didn't accept the original one to live with them, but just having additional suggies stopped the original one from being depressed (she started running in her wheel again, eating properly, etc).

Anyone seriously considering a sugar glider (or any animal for that matter) as a pet/companion needs to do a hefty amount of research. Sugar gliders do have a smell (especially the boys), require a specific diet, and can live as long as a dog. So you need to make sure that you're in it for the long haul.

99% of the "exotic" animals that I've rescued over the last seven years were purchased because they were "neat" and "cool"... the latest craze. As soon as the neatness wears off... that's when I get a phone call.
