I just don't believe that that is actually true. Bush and his cronies may be idiots, but they just can't be that stupid.

Gotta say, - think it probably is more or less accurate punkworld.

It would prob be normal to throw around scenarios and some of them, (based on past info), do include some form of assault on Iran.

How far these scenarios may go is another matter - who knows? But I'd sure not trust any judgement out of the current Admin.

You may remember prior to 9/11 Bush was sinking into a swamp and going nowhere - 9/11 saved his ass. The admin know the only role for Bush is playing war games "in defense of the nation" (he's proven he's useless in any other area) and wearing a mantle as Commander-in-Chief. That bs worked before - who knows, it may work again and may be their only hope of living thru the next 3 years of his term in office.

Only my but doubt there are any lengths they would not go to get credibility and whether that totally screws the US in ecomomic and other ways, doubt they give one shit.

I am entirely sure that they have gone over every scenario possible, and have considered numerous scenarios concerning Iran, up to and including full nuclear destruction or full scale invasion.

However, I am equally sure that they don't seriously believe, at this point in time (they probably did believe it in the past), that an attack on Iran would cause a large part of the population to rise up against the current government and overthrow it.

The possibilities are endless, but Israel has said on numerous occasions that they will not hesitate to use nuclear force against income attacks. If it's anything like Iraq sending Scuds over during Desert Storm, IRan will send a few over and Israel will get the ball rolling. Where China and Russia will end up is the big issue. Who will they side with? They aren't backing us 100% in the UN Security Council!

Of course they're taking a tactical look at nuking Iran. The fascilities are too deep for conventional weapons so it's either a ground war (which we can't afford because China is already funding our Iraq war but won't fund an Iran war) so the only option is use the nukes that we have sitting around.

"A senior Pentagon consultant said that Mr Bush believes that he must do "what no Democrat or Republican, if elected in the future, would have the courage to do," and "that saving Iran is going to be his legacy"."

I think we all know that Dubya is the type of person that could justify saving a country by nuking them in his own mind. I think we also know that he's lost a lot of support from his own supporters and few of even the craziest nuts would support the use of nukes.

Of course folks that will drive around in trucks after drinking beer shooting at birds and friends without permits or calling the cops are probably the types to support the use of nukes.
