You ever get weird coughs after drinking tap water?

I can't figure this shit out. Every time I drink tap water, even a small sip, I get really bad coughing. It feels like Im gonna cough my lungs out, and it lasts 10-15 minutes on and off.

I've tried this with home tap water at both my places (2 distant locations), even boiled tap water. im in the chicagoland area and the water here is suppose to be good. even taking a sip of water from the drinking fountain at the gym does the same shit.

the only water that i can drink is bottled water, and it doesn't really matter which. it's been happening for 4+ months.

didn't see a doctor yet and can't find shit about it on the internet...

anyone else have a problem like this or know what could cause it?

Weird.. never heard of such a thing!

Try letting it run a good solid 2 minutes to flush out the standing pipe water, then fill up an empty bottled water bottle and chill it in the fridge a while or something. ?

Thanks.

I've tried that (letting it run for 5-10 minutes). I also have water filters on the tap and that doens't do any good. Also, I'm the only person who has this problem, anyone else drinking from my tap is fine.

It's probably reaction to a heavy metal that is system wide in the water system.

Do you get any skin reactions when you wash with it?

Strange stuff. Obviously, in general drinking water is an expectorant... especially if you're having congestion or breathing/coughing issues. I'd go see a doctor!

I can not drink non filtered water. I grew up in a city then my parents moved to an area where we had a well so I got used to water not being treated with as much chemicals, have not been able to drink water out of a tap without gagging since. So I got a water filter pitcher for my fridge and a reverse osmosis system for some expensive fish I started breeding, much better taste and now I can drink happily.

Studies find that putting tap water in old bottled water bottles releases some chemicals such as arsenic and others that are used in the purification process (not sure if this is from the bottle or tap water production specifically) Not a whole bunch, not enough to make you drop dead on the spot, but be aware that it was found which may be one of the reasons some bottles specifically say do not refill or one time use only.

oh! I didnt know that. Forget what I said then, lol wow. Scary.

What I tend to do is wash out an empty juice bottle and fill it with water and refrigerate it. Now I'll be reading the label more carefully.

...or maybe, that's not just a tap water you've been drinking.
