as a thai resident for at least 4 months of every years i can confirm that shooting or producing *any* form of pornography is illegal and forbidden in the kingdom of thailand... if whoever in question was busted and really just deported then they got off very easy and should be thanking buddha that they aren't rotting in the "bangkok hilton"...

three years ago in the town where my house is (patong) an australian couple were busted shooting porn in their rented apartment to DV tape using the local bar girls and katoeys as models... they are both still enjoying the lovely cuisine and ambiance of a thai prison, and i'm sure they would have both been thrilled to be just deported.

getting deported for this sort of offense over there is a real gift, trust me..

I'm pretty sure the USA now has an agreement to get its criminals out of here as long as it is not a serious drug charge. I read a huge story on it a while back and Thailand was getting pissed because they would deport the person and the criminal was SUPPOSED to do jail time in the USA. What was really going down was that person was doing a very short amount of time in a USA jail and getting out early. I think that agreement is still into play but does not work for serious drug charges.

But this is only for US citizens. Only 3 or 4 countries had a similar agreement if memory serves me correctly. The problem was the horrible treatment of the prisoners in Thailand so the US stepped in.

personally i doubt thaksin has much lead left in his pencil at this point... the police (both national and BKK) are pretty much unilaterally against him at this point, his support in the corrupt military sector doesn't amount to a hill of fried beetles compared to the ire of police forces. hopefully "toadskin" thaksin will soon be a vaguely disturbing memory..

I've been shooting porn in Bangkok for years and I can tell you, I just left there and was very nervous going through the airport. I brought my 5 year old Thai-American kid with me and was wondering what would happen if I got arrested. I used to carry suitcases full of slides to Hong Kong and US and never thought twice. I will say though, that the Prime Minister Taksin just stepped down or should I say he was thrown out. He's another George Bush, so that can only be good news.
