Wal-Mart & Brokeback Mountain : American Family Association pissed!

http://www.fool.com/News/mft/2006/mft06040415.htm

Quote:
A Los Angeles Times article today notes that the American Family Association, a national Christian association, has successfully lobbied the company to stop selling magazines the group considered indecent, including FHM, Maxim, and Stuff.
Now, the American Family Association wants another item removed from Wal-Mart shelves: DVDs of Brokeback Mountain, the Academy Award-winning movie about two cowboys who fall in love with one another.

I can understand that extremists christians can be upset at this movie, but in which way they have the right to impose their views on the ones not sharing their position.

After all, it is not like if they are forced to buy it and watch it ....

They should check their priests instead

I'm surprised Walmart's even selling it. They have a long history of not selling R rated movies and even selling/renting only edited versions of them.

It's funny because I'll hear a story tonight on "the war on Christianity". Gotta love hypocrits.

They're like Bush.. They think they know what's best for everyone.. And they yell loud enough to be heard...

Rest assured the vast majority of folks showing disapproval will not even have seen the movie.

This will never go through. Brokeback Mountain is something people will buy regardless of where they are. Wal-Mart is not going to give up sales to appease these douchebags.

Lol I know... me too. Except there isnt much to censor in Brokeback Mountain. Maybe that time they..... oh yeah, they just kiss briefly. there is more screen time of them having sex with their wives.

Ahh, the big bad Rev. Wildmon crawls to the edge of the slimepit once again to give the media some fundamentalist soundbites.

That assclown will forever be a nemesis to freedom of speech and expression.

Why the fuck does the media even provide him with an audience any longer?

Yeah, yeah...I know - it sells cheap copy and ratings.
