The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Have you seen it and is it worth seeing on the big screen or should I just wait till Tuesday and buy it? I loved his books when I was younger.

That's exactly how the books are written. I read them in grade 6. I thought they were pretty good, but a little heavy handed with the Jesus/Aslan references.

CS Lewis AND JRR Tolkien were friends & were both very Christian - if you read the books you would know all the same themes are present.

It's really quite funny how so many Christians protested the LOTR movies when the whole storyline was Christian-based

I was very young when my mom read them. She would read every night one chapter with me. I really don't remember Jesus/Aslan references.

Where are you getting this.

That book was the furthest away from anything Jesus related i have ever read.

I cant think of one Jesus/Aslan reference.

Well the little morality adventures seemed like they were ripped from the Sunday School classes I went to with a friend. A good adventure, but definitely very Christian.

To me, it was just there from the first bit about Aslan creating the world. The munchkin saw it too. We took the deal about him dying on the stone table and coming back to life as the resurrection.

Appart from Aslan being "crucified" on a stone and then being ressurected.

He pretty much is a metaphor for ole JC.

It's full of christian stuff. But I don't think that makes it bad. Alot of classic books (past and present) are full of religious iconography. Doesn't stop them being classics. The books they were based on were pretty good reads too.

Wasn't the plot of the star wars trilogy "borrowed" from somewhere?

Oh yeah! I almost forgot all that stuff about the white witch (the devil) tempting the kid (adam) with turkish delight (apple).

My memory is pretty hazy about these books but I think we studied some of the religious undertones in high school. It's interesting but it doesn't exactly make me wanna be a christian.

I also can't take Narnia seriously anymore because of South Park:

"Go on! Pull my finger!"

The book is way better. I would advise all kids to read it first.

The pictures in my head from reading were far superior to what was put on the screen, that is the beauty of the written word, it allows you to get involved in the visualisation. Film generally doesn't as what is on the screen is what you have to accept.

just my two cents worth....

Watching it right now, pretty good so far.

I'm a HUGE Lewis fan, can't believe I missed this in the theatre.
