Software for easy uploading (not-ftp) and displaying of images on website?
I need a program (maybe cgi or php3) that lets me upload new images and some information regarding them to my website from a webpage, and and automatically displays new images and also lets visitors search for images from the information. Any good free or paid ones available? This is for a newbie so after installation the interface needs to be very simple.

Search for web gallery software. It'll still be using FTP to transfer the files, but with a more concise frontend. Or get an Angelfire account. ;)
