fuck - my dad got phished!

Think this is what you call it. He's pretty upset that he let himself get conned (thinks it's his age, almost 80).

He received an email from one of his banks. Gave them all his details. Of course is was all bull shit. His bank is taking necessary actions. Been on the phone with them this morning.

Problem is of course identity theft.

Any clever people here know a good course of action? Any clever little techniques? He deleted the email but have told him his ISP will have a record. He can probably have them track down the host / dynamic isp. Then contact the ISP. But, almost definitely, I feel this is a waste of time. He wouldnt be stupid enoght o be tracked.

Any ideas?

Notify the credit bureau's that your dad's personal information has been comprimised. They will make note of it on his credit report and credit card companies etc. will usually deny requests for credit cards etc.

my mum got her card cloned at tescos not so long ago, she got the money back from the bank as it was their fault for not making the secruity strong enough, maybe you could go down that line with this problem.
