Who here listens to rap and hiphop?

And how old are you? I'm 28 and i listen to rap and have been since 1991-92. I also listen to a lot of classic rock and alternative rock. I find it funny that some people that hate rap find every way to talk bad about it cause they don't like it. Most likely they heard a rap song and it scared the shit of them. Oh noooo a black man cursing! Or heard a gun shot go off in the song and they shit their pants I used to love sitting next to some shook mommas boy in his beamer with my nigga rap on

Abunch of guys talking about hustling rock, & smacking their bitchs around.

How could i not find that entertaining?

If you can learn to laugh at it, just like you would any other entertainment form, then you're all good....if you take it seriously, it'll give you a nervous breakdown from the stupidity.

I've been listening to rap since the early 90s. I love it. but i also listen to other music. i give credit where credit is due. I like rap, reggae, rock, oldies, some country, techno, and all types of spanish music. basically, if the song is good, i like it and if it sucks, it fucking suck balls.

I have been listeing and djing to rap/hip hop since I got my first copy of peter piper on vinly...i still have the same copy too

I have a huge old school hip hop collection on vinyl, probably 400-500 records...eventually I am going to get some mixes done, but that is just another thing on the list

but I love old school hip hop, my favorite hip hop is songs that have made their mark at #1 and are pushed aside, that is when I bring them out again

Spunky nailed it. Most people who do not like rap simply can not follow it, it is over their head. They can call the rappers whatever they want, but that stupid rapper just spent the last 3 minuites or so speaking over the heads of the "educated" person that thinks it is moronic.
Most of these people are fans of overly simplistic songs, no social referance, very little whit and in a lot of cases basically nothing more than abstract ideas strung together while repeating chords we have heard from much better bands in the past.

As far as hustling rock and slapping bitches, there are far more genre to rap than "gangsta". Each geographical point of origin is responsible for a widly differant form of "rap". The east will be known for its strong hip hop styles, the more artsy forms of rap using poetry and such. The west with its angrier style, the origin of mainstream and popular gangsta rap. The south is more about flamboyancy, partying, fast classic muscle cars, women and making it from nothing into something. There are sub classes of each, Atlanta produces differant party rap than New Orleans, Oakland produces differant gangsta rap than LA. A lot of it is localized and has referances to areas of cities or states that you have to almost research to understand.

But of course it is common for people to say that something that is to complex for them or not understood as easily as the other things they have experience with is stupid....
