Adsense? Who's the guru round here.

I avoided using Google Adsense. Now due to increased traffic and associate websites that are getting millions of hits per day I have to.

Who's the guru with this stuff? Does it make a good chunk of change?

They dont allow adult, and yeah you can make some good cash from adsense on mainstream.

Dude, millions of hits plus adsense = fucking tons of money. Sounds too good to be true.

It is so damn easy to make lots money from AdSense!

I helped make one of my friends $280k last year off of AdSense by teaching him a few basic SEO tactics. This year he will easily double that amount.

Okay here's an example. One pal has a very popular site. 10 million page hits a month minimum and is always complaining about not getting enough revenue.

Another pal gets 2.5 million hits a month, same complaints.

There are several other sites a bulk of which get 5-10 million a month but sell other things for revenue. I figured adsense would be good but some don't like the size of the ad stuff.

Dont use adsense on adult, extreme or even sexy links. They are very anal about this rules.

edit: Anything that a user can get aroused - just dont put on your site.

If you have an adult content site then go with Adbrite. Google will ban you if you accidently get accepted, so don't bother.

For those of you making jack off of Adsense on your mainstream sitesyou are doing it all wrong, read Google's optimization articles. I pull between $3-$100+ eCPM on my mainstream sites through Adsense.

Adsense has been the best option for almost all my sites.

The trick with Adsense is you need to optimize it for your site. The ads need to be placed in spots that draw attention and in turn click-throughs. Here is a chart of the hotspots:

You also want to have the ads match with your design. You can have it blend in or you can have it really stand out by making it a completely different color. My suggestion there is to test a few different color schemes and see what the best one is in terms of CTR.

Finally, you want to watch it and see what ads are showing. You can block out irrelevant sites which can cause a lower CTR. Also remember that a lower CTR and low conversion rate can cause your "score" to drop and you will not receive as much per click.

Dang! Google must like me. It took them about 2 hours to approve me. I used a sub:

ROFL! Those cheesy infomercials really crack me up. Some guy, every few years comes on tv and talks about how his money making plan with real estate can get you a blonde wife and a house in Florida. Then he gets busted and a few years later another guy pops up. The only one worth a fuck is Carlton Sheets.

When I was a kid there was a guy in NY called 'Reverend Ike'. He was a black guy preacher who had no shame about asking people to send him money. He was all dolled up like Little Richard and we could never figure out how that guy got away with it. It was funny just watching him go through his shtick.

It shows something that I heard Fonzie say on Happy Days:
