Where the fuck did these guys come from!?

While checking out a link on Break.com I happened to notice that the copyright on the site supposedly dates back to 1998.

I know these guys had traffic when they were www.big-boys.com so I didn't really doubt the 1998 claim.

I checked out archive.org and noticed that big-boys.com was a script resource site up until April of 2004.

So it's been two years....they have crazy traffic, featured in amp'd mobile commercials, a provider of amp'd content, $7,500 a link (plug), entertainment deals............and they did this how?

In April of 2004 the NSFW/Funny Video niche was already heavily saturated. Their site is plain...cookie cutter even. And their message on their site dated back to 2004 basically tells you that its not original content.

I'd love to know how these guys blew up so quick....they literally came out of nowhere.

Here's one reason they pull so much traffic:

March's Contest:

April Fools in March
Always ahead of the game, Break is celebrating the April Fools... throughout March. In honor of this great American pastime, Break is paying $500 for every ?April Fools? related video we post on the homepage in March. Remember, keep it fun and innocent? We won?t post any videos where someone gets hurt or depicts any illegal activity.

Original Flash Animation/ Short Films
Think you are really creative; Break is also paying $1000 for every original flash game, animation or short film that we post on the homepage.

Awesome Clips
Of course, as always, we post $250 for every other original video we post on the homepage.

Original Pictures
We also pay $25 for every original picture that we post in our famous galleries.

They pay surfers for original content, its the same thing that http://www.armorgames.com/ armor games did with flash games - pretty much came up out of nowhere. Money talks obviously
