I didn't think any creature on earth could live over 200 years!
Seems that India's most famous turtle just died and was believed to have been about 250 years old.
That means in the U.S. if you were born and lived that long you would have experienced the complete history of the country from the beginning. My question is: Would you like to live to be 250 years old and what do you think you would see happen to this world?

I would be disappointed if I'd die before I turn 450.

Well, that's what I actually thought about yesterday... I would say that curiosity moves me... I would live for so long only because of the curiosity... You know, I would like to know what is it there, in black holes in space

Yo, I spent umpteen hundreds of hours doing longevity research for several news services. You would not believe the new shit on the table and SOON to come that will not only extend our lives but REVERSE, yes I said REVERSE major parts of the aging process. There's no one source of aging. It's a combination of things. Yet over the past 8 years there have been astounding leaps in technology. We literally don't know how long a kid born today will live given these burgeoning technologies.
As for old-ass animals like that turtle, certain reptiles do live long ages. What's surprising is the sea creatures like sharks. If you feed a shark it will continue to grow. We don't know how old sharks can get. They don't show the signs of old age as other animals and rarely if ever get cancer. |

My thought is that the human brain can definitely outlast the human body at this point but we can't even reach half that age. When medical breakthroughs enable use to keep the body parts working then I wonder just how long we can expect our brains to keep going.?
There must be some clues in that turtle's brain http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,188994,00.html
