Dual sony trinitron 21" Laptop to the left of the monitors. Use standard Nvidia drivers with a 7800 card. Drivers have built in dual screen support. Task bar runs all the way across dual 21's. Using Synergy software to allow me to use Keyboard and mouse from desktop on Laptop.

Vid of monitors, and laptop with synergy running. Sorry for the long ass intro. Dont feel like fixoring it. ;)

excellent post, the sort of info I was after ;)

I'm playing with 2 monitors attm, but their size (and res) is different, plus ATI Catalyst don't strech the taskbar.

You need ultramon [www.ultramon.com] to get all the taskbars across.. if you had a Geforce card you'd have the option to stretch over the 2 monitors. I'm hoping they bring out proper support for 3 monitors + over 2 cards with the ability to have all monitors stretched out instead of just the 2. With the new 4x SLi boards [up to 8 monitors] they need to get their arses into gear.

You just have to bump its thread priority.
Make sure you get DVI cards / monitors too.

Btw, if you're going 3 or more screens, get the new PCI express SLI cards - not only can you bridge them for faster games blah blah, but you can get 4 dvi outputs really quite cheaply.

3x 19" Samsung 910T. (These are a slightly older model, but still great. They also swivel to 90° - perfect for working on webpages / documents)

2x nVidia 7800GT SLI Dual DVI cards. If you ever have a DVI LCD next to one w/ a VGA input, you'd see the difference.

And as a word to the wise - 'Dell' LCDs are rebranded and price-increased samsung monitors. Just so you know ;)

I have a cheap ATI RADEON 9550 and a cheap GeForce MX 4400. Left and right I have 19" LG 1915SV monitors running on the Radeon secondary and GeForce, center a 19" LG 1950S running on the main radeon.

Works like a charm. And I do not know what I would do with more room really.

Yeah.

To those using Nvidia gfx cards, can you please tell me if you can choose to clone the taskbar or simply extend it?

if you do that i believe you loose the ability to maximize the screen to just one monitor. i had it set up that way for about 5 minutes then got pissed off at it and changed it.

if you want to try it, goto display properties, click on the settings tab, click on advanced, click on the Nvidia/Geforce tab then use the drop down menu and select one of the span settings.

this makes the two monitors one monitor.
