Discuss what's fucking going on, and which programs are best and worst. One-time "program" announcements from "established" webmasters are allowed.

2o7 dot net issue

Hey, appreciate any help on this one.

I noticed on one of my computers that when I go to searchmarketing.yahoo.com and try to use one of the tools, or sign up, that 102.112.2o7 dot net is trying to load an image. It also prevents me from signing up, or using the tools.

From what I've read, 2o7 (not a typo, it's an "o" not a "0") is connected with third party tracking cookies and possible phishing attempts. Simply deleting the cookie associated with it doesnt help me get rid of it, so does anyone know any programs that are known to install this piece of shit? Maybe I can uninstall the thing.

I have all the latest security updates, AVG (current as of today) doesnt recognize it as a threat, Ad Aware SE (current as of today) doesnt note it as a problem, Spybot S&D (current as of today) doesn't find it noteworthy.

Note that this is not an Explorer issue, it happens with Firefox or IE on the one computer (running XP Home Edition). I'm not running a HOSTS file.

I've also run a registry cleaner that finds orphaned entries, and I've cleaned house.

Input appreciated, thanks

Ok, so I dug around a bit and found this: http://docs.yahoo.com/info/privacy/us/yas.html

and following the link I found this: http://www.omniture.com/2o7

it gives you the option of them placing a new cookie which (they say) will prevent my data from being sent out, but it does not tell me what program on my computer is wanting to send out the data in the first place.

Pretty fucked up if you ask me to allow a third party tracking cookie that BLOCKS NEW ADVERTISERS FROM JOININGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!

Enjoy. I know I have.
