Mike Tyson will pocket £80,000 for 17 minutes work tomorrow night, refereeing a brutal human dogfight.

Iron Mike said he?s so scared of the barbaric cage fighting scrap that he insists on a bout with the two lightest fighters.

Ex -World Heavyweight boxing champ Mike was once dubbed ?the baddest man on the planet?. But he will only referee one of the 12 fights on the cards at the World Cage Fighting Championships tomorrow night.

Tyson, 39, said: ?I don't like fighting any more and these guys are super strong. They're huge gladiators. I am glad I've got the small guys, the really little ones, because I might be able to handle them. I was concerned one of the bigger fighters may fall on me and cause me some damage. My body is no longer what it was when I was champion of the world. Looking at the size of these guys I am more than happy not to participate, and just hope I can get through this one bout.?

When asked at what stage he would consider stopping the no-holds barred scrap, he said; ?I will definitely intervene if I see an eyeball rolling on the floor.?

Fighters slugging it out for the world belt and £100,000 purse at Manchester's MEN Arena can punch with fists, kick and knee in the head and use kickboxing and Kung Fu. Head-butting, eye-gouging and booting in the groin are barred but are often used by fighters.

Tyson will step into an 18ft octagonal mesh cage at the blood and gore fest to ref three five-minute rounds, with a minute break between each.

Mike insisted on bossing an all-English showdown between Manchester's Ozzy "Left Hook" Haluk, 29, and Liverpool's Terry "Hit 'em" Etim, 21. Etim weighs in at 70kg (1541bs) and Haluk tips the scales at 77kg (1701bs).

That's lightweight compared to giants on the bill like Dutch destroyer Alistair Overeem, 26, who weighs 93kg (205lbs) and fellow countryman Gewik Mousasi, 27, who weighs in at 95kg (2091bs).

Promoter Steve Bacon, 36, yesterday said that nobody had ever been killed slugging it out in the cage. He said: ?There is far more chance of picking up nastier injuries in football and rugby.?

Tyson was collected at Manchester airport yesterday in a black Range Rover with the reg B8 EAR - a reference to the infamous 1997 title scrap where he bit off part of opponent Evander Holyfield?s ear.
