some images i took today hiking the nearby backcountry of Whistler

and thought i'd share. Piccolo is basically out of bounds, Flute bowl is now inbounds but has no lift access. you have to hike, or 'earn your turns'. Anyway, was an amazing day (like the entire last two weeks has been), and i finally took a couple of quick shots (feel free to click to enlarge):

beginning of the hike up a mountain known as Piccolo:

more of the hike up, note something that looks like a spearhead in the background - known as 'blacktusk':

flutebowl. check out the cornices. this area is amazing. it takes weeks for it to be tracked out due to the difficulty of dropping in, and the effort involved in hiking to it in the first place:

beginning of the hike up flute:

large kickers (jumps) being built in this area:

we're getting over a meter forecast for this week, i'm beyond stoked

too much fucking snow. Fuck that. You can keep that shit and freeze your flesh off in some tent up there.

I'll be staying right here on the beach.
Good luck with that.

jan was the most amount of snow since they started keeping records. you definitely missed out. March has been insane too. it started snowing on my b-day dec 27th, and really didn't stop for over a month. wish you'd stayed even a couple of days longer...

Yeah I think I was there Dec 18-24 or so... Spent half the time in bars, couldn't bring myself to pay for a lift ticket if it was going to be raining nonstop.

It's ok, my trip to Chile this summer will more than make up for it... The fucking Andes man.
